Dabo, 54 million

Queue the Pitt fans who are glad the school would never pay a head coach that much. The money should go to dorms, dining halls, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I have no problem with this. Shores up the ACC for years to come. Pitts not there yet so we should never think that level of coaching talent would ever come here. We do need to restructure PN's contract by added a couple years and getting him to at least $3 mm per year if not $4. I don't think Pitt could attract a better coach.

4M has no chance of happening with our Admin & BOT. Look, Pitt decided to hire a HC w/no HC experience, built in excuse to pay a low salary. Look across the ACC landscape currently and look at which schools hired a HC w/zero HC experience, you will not find many. Look hard, you will find one school.

Narduzzi is about 2nd to lowest in ACC. The admin will bump him from 1.9 to about 2.3-2.5M. At some point, Narduzzi is going to get tired of our Admin and look for a way out, that is if he can win enough games to demand a 4M salary. Pitt HC's and our Admin have a track record of not working out. The Admin strategy is not built around winning.

Where do you come to this conclusion about paying Narduzzi? It seems like Gallagher has been pretty good to work with and they are trying to spend more. We offered to make Canada the highest paid coordinator in the ACC last year supposedly (if we would have done that my cheap ass was going to donate money to the athletic department) . I really don't know but it seems this admin is light years ahead of previous administrations.
I am sure it is tough from a bottom line perspective when our athletic department has been making limited money for a long time.

We spend millions more than we make.
And have for decades
No one is arguing that. Extremely poor donation campaigning from past administrations, under prioritizing this and horrid communication and networking with alumni. You give this duty to one inept person for 15 years and don't demand results, this is what happens.

Hopefully our new AD won't make same mistake. Time will tell.

Thanks to fans like you!
Mostly because probably 75% of your posts dwell on this, all negative, with no suggestions for how to improve things!
Its ok to be critical as long as a person represents the potential upside scenario.

Dabo wasn't a head coach prior to being named Clemson coach.

On top of that, if they do find the right coach and he wins, Pitt has shown it will pay. They did it with Dixon for 11 years.

Coaching stability works. Keeping a coach long term in college works. Easier said than done in their day and age of eat or be eaten, coach poaching.
