Dabo not happy with some clemson fans

You think we would complain about beating WVU or PSU by 21? You would be an idiot, we would pray for a 1 point win in church Sunday prior!

Dabo is actually one of the classier guys out there.

On the whole he is. I didn’t like how he berated a player yesterday for getting an unsportsmanlike conduct flag. Thought it was very uncharacteristic of him to react the way he did.

Zero sympathy for Dabo. You want to coach at a big time program, then suck up to the fans/boosters. If you won't like the complaints, leave.

Almost any coach would chew out a player who gets an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty making your team have to kick off from the 20.

It was a silly call and Dabo made a bigger deal of it than he should have. IMO he handled the situation poorly. Overall he’s a quality guy especially in the coaching world.

I think dabo is a genuine guy. Tbh these fans are being ridiculous but at the same time say for example I was pitt’s Head coach and there were complaints we only beat psu by 21, my response would be something like “we’re happy with the win but we should’ve been better, next year the goal is to make sure those guys don’t gain a single yard on us.”

I mean what’s the harm in playing into the fans a little bit? Just cause they were wrong doesn’t mean you have to straight up come out and tell them that.

I agree. Coaches get all the slack in the world in regards to their aiming for the next opportunity so why shouldn’t the fans be allowed to hold them to a certain standard? If Dabo finds it unreasonable he can move on. To that end, fans can voice their opinions with their wallets and stay home. Seems THAT discussion occurs on here quite a bit.

No. Just zero tolerance for coaches complaining. Same applies to Saban complaining about lack of fan support when they play Citaldel and such.
Shut up and win. That's what you are paid for.

Saban’s outburst was so contrived it was sad. That was during the period when people were really amping it up about how they were the best team ever.

He was just so desperate to find anything to get angry about just to get people back to earth.

I actually agree with Dabo on this one. Our fanbase has become totally arrogant and spoiled and hasn't enjoyed any of this season. We're 12-0, one of the top 4 or 5 regular seasons in the program's history and our people can't enjoy it. I know we've picked up tons of bandwagon fans and also everyone has a voice on social media now but our fanbase is actually making it hard for me to enjoy the season. Truth is it's primarily the under 35 crowd who didn't have to sit through the 90's and 00's (the lost 20 years) who don't appreciate how hard it is to win week in week out regardless of who you're playing or what conference you're playing in. It's quite frustrating.

The Pitt fanbase is arrogant and spoiled? If that so, then the Pitt fanbase is the dumbest fanbase in all of sports. All of sports. How are we arrogant, and especially how are we "spoiled"? Do I have to recite the numbers again?

1) One 10 win season in 35 years.
2) No seasons of less than 3 losses in 36 years.
3) No Major Bowl wins in 36 years.
4) ONE major bowl appearance in 35 years.
5) No back to back week appearances in the polls since 2009.
6) In the last 143 weekly polls, Pitt has appeared in them exactly 5 times.

So not sure where this entitled "spoiled" is coming from? If it is bitching or criticism that you are calling as "spoiled", well you completely have mistaken frustration for being "spoiled". It is frustration because of those numbers above.

How dare a head coach hold a star player to the same level of accountability as everyone else?!?!?

The nerve!

He wasn’t a star and it was a joke. In fact the play ran was part of the “fridge package.” It was a kid who got carried away.

Hes a clemson fan dummy.

Perhaps I was too strong in my assessment. However, if you haven’t thrown asshat stones you definitely should try it. Much better than a standard stone.

I wish this post could be pinned to the top of the message board for a very long time or until we actually accomplish something.

It's just I get really frustrated when Pitt fans on here criticize other Pitt fans for being upset after a loss, or after a recruiting loss, like we have had it so good, we have nothing to gripe about. We are somewhere around Minnesota or Purdue as a program over the last 35 years.

I dont mind honest criticism but there is definitely a faction that totally write off anything good that happens and puts us at a level of a sun belt team.

We 100% have our struggles and just barriers that are extremely difficult to overcome. But if youd read some posts on the opposite side it makes it seem we barely win 2 games a year.

I want more. I want to win 10 plus a year more consistently. I want to go to major bowl games.

But im also glad im not showing up week in and week out getting a smack down like in the early to mid 90s or how a program like rutgers is now.

Does anyone realize Rutgers scored 100 points this year in 9 conference games?? So they scored an average of 11 points in conference games, gave up 273, So the average score was 30 to 11.

Of course Illinois average 25 points per game, but gave up on average, 46 points per game.

Didn't see this

But

Its not like i haven't cursed out some random guy who cut me off driving.
These coaches have personal relationships with the players, its more like a parent yelling at a kid, then anything.

These sideline incidents are overrated (Oliver/Applewhite)

Coaches are Assholes and players do stupid things, but as a team they fight for the same goals.
