I'm not sure how often you guys watch highlight tapes of prospective recruits. Ever? Once? Perhaps twice? If you have any interest in viewing tape, I'd recommend watching the HUDL tape of Damar Hamlin's junior year. This will sound hyperbolic, but....I think he's the most 'natural' DB I've seen of HS kids, or at least those kids that Pitt has recruited. I presume he's not the fastest, biggest, or quickest DB that Pitt has recruited; I'm pretty sure that he may be the most instinctive one, though. I mean, he reminds me a little bit of Ty Law when he played for the Patriots. Law could read a Qb's eyes, come off his man in coverage, and jump an out-route or drop back and snatch a deep-out in Cover 2. There are several examples of Hamlin reading screen immediately, too. Draws, misdirection. He's on to them. Turns his hips when appropriate, turns his head to the ball on deep throws, and plays ball at the highest point. Also, he hits. Not afraid of contact at all. He's sudden. Very little wasted movement in approach and in coverage. He's f'n impressive.
I watched Therran Coleman, Paris Ford, Hamlin, and Whitehead's from last year. Coleman and Ford look like phenomenal athletes w/ wiry frames and presumably great measurables. Whitehead made everything look easy, as well as being an extremely strong kid. But, Hamlin, man. He just seems to know the game. His instincts and anticipation are elite. Dude is a cornerback. Pure.
And, Narduzzi is going to land him.
