“The Bills got themselves a steal in Dane Jackson,” Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said of the pick, according to John McGonigal of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “He is as good as any cornerback I’ve ever coached. Dane was not only a playmaker for us, but he became an impactful leader as a senior captain. He showed on the field this past season, as well as at the Senior Bowl, that he’s a disruptive corner and a big-time competitor.”

I can see him moving to safety. He’s a pretty physical DB, tough, competitive, not afraid to tackle and he just isn’t fast enough to stay with the outside receivers in the NFL. NFL corners now are athletic freaks for that reason. Jackson had a couple games last season where he absolutely got abused in man coverage on the outside. He can probably add 15-20 pds without hurting his athleticism. He really was a steal as many had him going in the 5th. Several corners who graded out lower went before him. Maybe it hurt him that he ran a 4.57 but he plays faster and was very productive.
