That’s an interesting suggestion. The problem I have with Yost is that it really wouldn’t be much different than Whipple’s offense, other than the tempo (and he doesn’t call the QB to the sideline ). Both are pass-first and like to spread things out; Yost in particular comes from the Gary Pinkel school of air-raid offenses.
At that point, you’d have to be confident in his ability to improve the running game while also sticking with a similar style, which Yost has mixed results from his time at Mizzou, Oregon, Utah State, and Texas Tech. Some years they’d be ranked top ten in running, other years they’d be ranked in the 80s and 90s.
The other issue is, does Narduzzi feel confident enough to have Beville or Yellen run an air-raid offense like that? If Pickett doesn’t return, we may be looking for another grad transfer QB.
