I figured this deserved a thread in and of itself. Heck, even if Matt's sources are lying to him, this is pretty fun. This is what we know. You can fill in what I miss:
- He has said its a name that has been "mentioned." He doesn't say mentioned by who as we've mentioned 100 different coaches as fans. If its a coach HE has mentioned, it can only be 1 of maybe 10-12.
- has said definitively Matta will not be the HC next season
- the wildcard aspect doesn't seem to fit guys like Musselman, Oats, Odom, Grant, etc
- not an assistant coach
- has said Miller wants the job, some influential boosters want Miller
- will be done this week suggesting no Sweet 16 coaches
- suggested its a name coach
- has said something to the effect that he thinks it will be 1 or 1A and it will he a good hire
So unless I'm interpreting things incorrectly, the wildcard has to be:
a) Miller
b) Matta with a change of heart or possible "co-HC" situation with Jent.
c) a coach that fans have mentioned but not Matt, like Cooley, Willard, Pitino, Shaka, Cronin (but he'll likely be in Sweet 16), etc
