This is the first time in 8-10 years Pitt defensive line did not have a truly disruptive player and it showed. There was no Donald,Twyman,Kancy Jones Weaver or Baldanado.
The way Pitts defense plays pressure on the QB is mandatory. You cannot give the opposing QB 3 or more seconds to throw and leave your corners on islands.
Unfortunately I don’t see it getting any better next year with the current players. Either a freshman can crack the lineup or we need help in the portal. It will be even more crucial next year since we are losing experienced corners.
We also did not see any of the linebackers break out this year as hoped. I think their mediocre play was also influenced by the lackluster defensive line play.
if we don’t get a lot of help next season it could be rough for the defense.
