Devonshire...

If he can help bring him in. If he can’t, don’t.

when you’re a perennial 7-5 team pride and resentment are luxuries you can’t endulge in
True but if he has character issues pass on him. I'm not saying he does but that should be worked into the equation too.

Why does anyone assume that just because a kid is local, he is disrespecting Pitt if he decides to attend another school?
It's the manner in which some of these kids, parents act when they don't choose Pitt. Especially on social media and they shouldn't burn bridges in case it doesn't work out.

I do not follow social media at all. What did he say that makes you think that he dissed Pitt?

A western Pa. kid fitting in at Kentucky. In what universe is that? I think the last one was George Blanda 75 years ago.
It’s not Western PA, but if I recall correctly the Ohio Valley’s Wally Pesuit (Wintersville) went to Kentucky and spent a few years in the NFL/USFL.

Isn't this the kid that was waiting until the afternoon to do his hat dance on some blog and there was a lot of butt hurt because Duzz announced that the class was done a few hours before? There was also a ton of criticism here because Duzz didn't land this super important local kid. Anyway, I don't see Pitt as a landing spot unless something changed but I'd guess there's a lot more to this story than anyone is saying out loud.

that sounds about right. The thing I seem to remember it was a strange recruitment. We weren't the "first" offer, so of course the quip faithful took umbrage to that. Then we started to pursue him pretty fervently. He showed interest but mainly because for some reason he was falling in the eyes of other P5 schools. Don't think he had any offers from any other "bigs".

So he was kind of using Pitt as his best option until something else came along. And then it did when Kentucky comes out of nowhere, schedules a visit, and Devonshire is instantly enthralled by them. He signs shortly thereafter.

So Pitt spends the most time on him, but he quickly cut ties when a perceived better offer comes along from a school who barely put any effort into the recruitment. Not a peep out of quip nation about Kentucky being disrespectful and not offering until late like it was with Pitt.

I usually don't hold grudges, heck I would have taken Wade. But I would say similar to Raines, this is a hard pass.

I couldn’t believe how many people on this board was pining for Wade to come to Pitt when he was considering transferring to another school...

meh, that's what makes a rivalry, I thought what him & Sanders did at least showed they cared about it, unlike Franklin who pretends the rivalry doesn't matter. Heck, Miles Sanders has been to more Pitt games while enrolled at Penn State than many of the so called fans on this board.

So yeah, I would have taken Wade, unlike McMillon who didn't place us on a top 10 list (that he paired down from 12 to intentionally highlight eliminating Pitt), He would be on the do not take list, along with Raines & Devonshire

You think maybe he wanted anything but Pitt because he wanted to get out of the area altogether? I love Pittsburgh and spent most of my life here minus the 3.5 years I split time between Pittsburgh and SW Ohio. Sometimes people just want to get away and that's ok.

If McMillon can help Pitt you take him. He eliminated Pitt early so no time was wasted on him. Wade played the recruiting game till the end and after was still disrespectful.

He was charging people a cover charge on his decision even though he was already enrolled in classes for spring semester at psu. Lol.

I can't recall who, but I'm fairly sure the son of a former lineman went to Ky. It wasn't Siragusa, but I'm thinking it was someone from around that time frame. I remember reading an article about the father.

Anyone else remember the details around Devonshire’s recruitment? If I recall KY came in with a real late offer at the very end. So he couldn’t have had much time to have established relationships with the KY people. Kind of made it look like MJ's attitude was always "anywhere but Pitt". He'd only maybe have reluctantly signed with Pitt if he had no other P-5 offers?

As with any other player acquisition matters though, it’ll now be up to the principals. In this case, Pitt & Marlin. We’re just interested observers.

If you believe his recruiting profile, he picked Kentucky over Ohio State so I'm just going to assume there are a lot of things about this kid that probably can't be explained by simply wanting to get out of PGH.

McMillon will be transferring, and I'm pretty confident it won't be to another P5 school.

Yeah you are right, but you also don't want to keep being the back up prom date when you find out you got misled either. Sorry but I think our young secondary is promising. Now if he was a 4 star lineman.....

Honestly I don’t remember anyone doing that. He played poorly against Pitt, we had 2 better players already and the board seeks to hate him

So what’s the latest with Devonshire. Any new on any other transfers coming in? Like Jordan or minor from Maryland or even Mack the QB from UCF?
