I was replying to what Chris posted then thought better of it until the contradictions are resolved.

I don't blame Capel for taking a chance on him. I only expected him here a year but I may have been off by a year.
Unbelievable. This is 3 near-season long suspensions in 3 years to key players. I have said many times that Capel needs babysitters. Student managers assigned to each player to shadow them wherever they go. This was especially true of a kid with a shady background.
And I'm going to say this as I say every year. Why does Pitt allow these students to remain in school and go to class but not play basketball while a case is pending. Do you realize how stupid that is? They are fine allowing the kid sit in some freshman math class but wont let him anywhere near the basketball facility. If it was a Capel decision, then whatever, its his program, but why would the university not allow it. This case is VERY OBVIOUSLY going to get resolved without major penalties to Johnson so why not let him play? We are trying to win basketball games.

We can still be a fringe NIT team. Obviously the ceiling is significantly lower now, but there was always a chance the Johnson thing was going to derail at any point anyway.

If this is true not a good reflection on the Pitt coach and staff have to take time to vet these guys not just hoop talent.

OK, so I was wrong in that he'll be playing in February. He is obviously gone. How is he not already? How are you accused of punching a woman (marks could be seen on her) and still with the team for a month?
In a way I feel bad for this kid. I knew he had issues but thought he could last a year and help. He seems have severe mental illness. Hopefully he can get help. Otherwise, his career is probably over.

These kids don’t realize that with the attention they attract they’re also targets . Saying that doesn’t excuse violent behavior.
Blaming anyone other than those directly involved is wrong unless their was prior history of bad behavior that was ignored because of athletic abilities.

Johnson wasnt here in the summer so he would have just gotten to campus in late August. He may have only been in Oakland 10 or so days.
At best, the cops didnt tell Pitt and Dior kept it secret. If Pitt knew, I dont know how he wasnt immediately kicked off.

His camp is denying it and saying it was a retired police officer and a fake police report, FWIW
2 opposing schools of thoughts:
1.) This kid has seemingly had baggage forever. Trust what the girl says. He’s gone.
2.) Nothing’s really adding up. If it was so seriois, why did it take a month for charges to be filed? Also he is a future pro and has a brand so there is always the idea of someone trying to ruin his life….
