Just depends on what you watch. You could get YouTube TV for $40/month. Your internet bill will go up but you'd probably save $80-$100 per month. Add $7 per month for Showtime. They dont have HBO so you'd have to get HBO Now separately. And they dont have ESPN3 so you'd be back to warching ESPN3/ACCNE games on your phone.

Internet bill doesn't neccessary go up. I actually lowered my internet bill, because I realized that I was paying for way more bandwith than I needed.

There are ways around having to pay for the premium channel apps. Also, they're great free movie apps out there.

You can use the ESPN and Fox Sports apps to watch games on your tv, just log in with your YouTube TV account.

Those streaming apps are just going to get more expensive over time as they become more mainstream. You are already seeing it start. I think it just depends on your viewing habits. I still like my cable set up.

I'll be interested to see what the settlement is. Yes Fios may agreed to pay an increase but I doubt Disney got anywhere close to the amount they were seeking. I seen one report of 280 million dollars was what they wanted. If the settled for 100-150m that a huge difference.
Not to mention how much of that money goes into the network payout for the schools.

Cable TV will be pretty much obsolete in the next few years. I give it 3yrs max and would be surprised if cable boxes are still being made.

The cable companies know that the end is near and they're pretty much holding out to milk remaining customers for as long as they can. The cable companies already have streaming apps in place to prepare themselves for the future.

Streaming is the present and will be the definitive future. Might as well hop on the early train. I've tremendously expanded by viewing capabilities with free streaming content, rather than paying for a limited amount of channels with cable and still not able to find anything to watch.
