and money is not an option. I don't want him to leave, but he shouldn't get more to stay and if he does go, I believe we would pay for a good coach. I'm not worried either way.

I agree - We have an AD who played the game and served as a basketball committee chair, and the Chancellor wants to win.and money is not an option. I don't want him to leave, but he shouldn't get more to stay and if he does go, I believe we would pay for a good coach. I'm not worried either way.
I want him to stay, but if he decides it is time to move on, I am fine with it. I would have been worroed with past administration, but not the current one. I do trust them to do the right thing.
My god the Post Gazette is reporting his buyout is $10mm. If they can settle on $6 to $8 mm that would give us plenty of cash to add to the already $3+ we currently pay. I've got to believe $4-$5mm per year will bring plenty of "proven" interest.

You missed the first part about having an AD that played D1 ball and served as a chair on the basketball committee. The last Chancellor wanted to win just as much.
I have a hard time seeing Pitt paying more than they're currently paying Dixon, but Dixon's salary is plenty generous enough and there is the allure of the ACC. I'm with Beth-John, I'll let what will be, be and hope if JD leaves they get the right guy for the next chapter in Pitt BBall.
The last chancellor was great for academics. But he didn't know how to put on a jockstrap. The last Chancellor wanted to win just as much.
He made 2.4 million in an NIT season, and was the 21st highest paid HC. The incentives must have been awfully easy to achieve if that number is correct.Dixon's base salary per the tax returns released last year was only $1.4MM. He gets more with bonuses and incentives, but I can't see Pitt shelling out $3MM guaranteed to anybody.

$2,445,682 - The article said last year.I believe last year's tax return has not been released yet. The one released last year was related to the Lamar Patterson/Zanna year and also had some bonuses related to the ACC vest.
