1. If they win a lot of games, ot might mean we are pretty good (though even if they go 1-11, we still might be pretty good)

2. I dont want James Franklin going anywhere. I want that guy on the PSU sideline the next 3 seasons. He can recruit with the best of him but he's a terrible gameday coach.

I have always rooted against PSU but I dont want them bringing in a better coach.

against temple, no way. root for them to win against purdue, Indiana, Rutgers so the fans just start to get a tad cocky then have msu come in and embarrass them again, like last year.. 6-6 record keeps franklin employed.. They go 4-8, they buy him out and bring a real coach in, a real coach with some talented players could wreak havoc.

All I can say is:

Let's Go Owls!!!!!!!!!!

Uh, no.

I do think they'll go 8-4 this year though. Rather see Pitt have another 8+ win season and Penn State win no more than 6. I think Pitt wins more recruiting battles that way...

I think they lose to Michigan , Michigan State and OSU. Then they find a way to lose another game and end up 7-5

7-5 is a tall task for them. lose to the big 3, they still have a good iowa team. Minnesota isn't terrible, MD kind of sucks but they could beat them. Purdue and Indiana are brutally bad. Hell, you never know about temple.

You can root for them, but I certainly will not. I hope they go 0-12 every season. Pitt controls its own destiny...win the games on the schedule...and good things will happen. We do not need the Nits to win anything in order to substantiate what Pitt does on the field. Hail to Pitt!

I think if they played ISIS U, I might actually be on the fence....

5-7 with losses to Pitt and Temple would work well. Jimmy Frank's will have excuses prepared and the PS dopes will buy them.

Unless they go 3-9 Franklin will be back next year.

If they were to fire him at the end of this year who would want that job right now? Think about it, it is still a toxic mess run consumed by "paterno people".

How would you like to be the coach up there and looking to move forward when you have the family & joe's worshipers who can't let go of the past? Not to mention the whole Sandusky thing. That place and program is tainted and stained for good.

As long as you have morons up there running things it will keep a QUALITY football coach away. They might have the $$$$ to bring in a name but would a name want it right now? I would say no.

No, though I actually get the reasoning. Though it really doesn't matter, as other games will determine if Pitts season is a success or not.

Ultimately, 7-5 for them as Recruits mentioned is probably most ideal.

NEVER. I'm not a hypocrite. We sit here and criticize JoePa for doing little to stop child rape. We call their fans joebots and enablers, yet we're going to root for them so it can benefit Pitt??????

There are more important things in life besides football.

Yea, I usually would love it for PSU to go 1-11 but I'm looking at it as what is in Pitt's best interest. And I believe its in our best interest if Franklin is on their sidelines the next 3 seasons and to do that PSU will probably need to go to 6-6 this year. There is a very real chance they could go 4-8 or worse. Their only pushover wins are Rutgirls and Purdue. They could lose the rest.

I loathe PSU as I told two family members who our ticket holders for Michigan & OSU I hope they both hang 50 on PSU. MSU & Iowa might be a little closer plus Maryland I'm not sure if PSU gets to 7.

All perception. He's a much better coach than he gets credit for on here. Conversely, his recruiting hasn't been all that. If he can recruit with the best of them, then why isn't he?

The B1G has two heavyweight recruiters. Harbaugh and Meyer. That's it.

I said I hope they go 0-12 every season. I did not say that is ever likely. With the creampuffs they schedule on an annual basis, in addition to a couple of B1G doormats, they typically have 6 or 7 baked in wins. JimmyFranks is not going anywhere for a year or two, regardless of how bad they do. Hail to Pitt!

I understand the logic in wanting Franklin to remain coach, but I am not going to ever root for PSU.
I hear ya. But with a strong 2018 class in PA seeing Franklin struggle at 7-5 this year and likely make him a lame duck they would have trouble making a strong play for recruits.

I think they would have trouble making a strong play for 2018 recruits whether they are 7-5 this year with Franklin coming back or 3-9 and have a new (likely low level and appeal) HC.

No. OOC opponent with no impact. Pitt controls its own destiny at this point...and we will know a lot more about Pitt after the next two weeks with Oklahoma State and then the team picked to win the conference division in UNC.

They a pretty decent team.
Temple's defense is bad this year. I think Barley goes over 200 yds this week.

Don't expect many teams to stop Pitt's offense with the threat of those misdirection jet sweeps. PSU is better than they think and better than we think. That said...they didn't even come close to stopping Pitt until Peterman got what may have been a little to hesitant to give the ball to Henderson on those sweeps in the 2nd half. And he quit selling the fake handoff well in the 2nd half too.

What circumstances would you root for Isis or perhaps cancer?

If you can find a path to root for one of those you can find a path to root for penn state.

To use an extreme example - if Pitt was 12-0 and needed PSU to beat OSU or Mich at the end of the year to get in to the playoffs I'd have to bite down and root for PSU. Otherwise I hope they lose every game. This year and every other.

Never.

I hope they never win another game, in any sport, ever.

Don't be surprised what PSU $$ can pony up. I don't want to take that risk. I want the rest of this year, and next year of complete uncertainty on Franklin's future. A new guy can sell " new" and things will be "different".

Exactly. I am afraid PSU would get someone 10 times better than Franklin.

I watched an Altoona TV PSU discussion show on YouTube and the hosts seemed very critical of his coaching and they watch him every week.......and its PSU where you are not allowed to criticize.

Never. I hope that penn state loses EVERY game by one point, with them in possession of the football on their opponents one yard line, with one second left on the clock, in the 5th overtime.
I want each of their loses to sting them deeply and demoralize them in every way possible.
Hope this helps answer your question!!

First Franklin isn't going anywhere for at least two years. Money. So I hope they go on a 21 game losing streak.
Second, if we win then PSU becomes less important with every win.
Third Franklin was the darling hot commodity hire. They won't onto pros again because they got burned. They may stay inside the program for the next hire. Perfect LOL.
Forth if Franklin get fired that means Teri Smith gets fired LOL.
Fifth good for Pitt recruiting if PSU sucks for a couple of years.
Let's go Owls.

I look at it as we can't lose. If they win, it makes our win look a little better. If they lose, well, penn state loses!

Hal to Pitt!

I usually root for all of our opponents to win as many games as possible but not PSU. I'd like us to separate ourselves with our record and make it an easier choice for local recruits. I don't think PSU is a bad team, I think they beat Temple and the mid-lower B10 teams.
