Do you guys think Lyke would seriously consider Brandin Knight as the next head coach?

I think that would be a terrible decision but maybe Lyke would feel that a "Pitt" guy would be good.

His name was constantly mentioned during the last search so it makes me wonder.

No. Living in the past isn't going to cut it. We tried that with Major's II, Wanny, Stevie. If you go young then you need a coach who has at least a track record, even if it is a Mid-Major.

I would open the vault and try to lure a Cal, a Petino, even Sean Miller.

NO. He's never been a head coach and as far as I know, never offered a HC job at any level.

There will be a strong media push for Brandin. Count on it. Will Heather interview him? Yes. Is he on a short list? Hopefully not. But don't do what we did 2 years ago. This one should be easy for most of you jobbers. "WE AIN'T THAT GOOD LOOKING""

It doesn't matter. There were lots of posters on here that wanted to give Knight a shot before Stallings got the job. His name was always in the conversation. I'm just worried that Lyke might try to go this route because he'd be cheap and that might be a factor after this buyout stuff happens.

I don't think so. Especially with the pressure of getting this hire right after such a short stint by Stallings. If he was an assistant on a more successful team that was tearing it up then maybe he get's an interview but he's not.

He’s young enough that it could happen down the line. I wouldn’t see this as living in the past or Majors II. But he does need more exposure and certainly should have a head job at a lower level. I get very few inside tidbits but I was told he had a courtesy interview and was more impressive than was expected. But the fact that he was here for so long and no other experience to speak of effectively meant he had zero chance at the job. And this may not even be much of a revelation but came from someone I trust would know.

But not now either. This job is gonna be some heavy lifting. Not time for a noob.

Goodness gracious, like Cal is going to leave UK to come to Pitt. There are good coaches out there who will come to Pitt. None of them are currently coaching a P5 power.

I agree but when does Pitt do the correct thing?

Why would they hire B Knight?

Once BK was promoted to the 1st chair. That’s when Dixon started his slide. Throw in the fact our recruiting also started to slide when he was promoted

I love BK. However, if Pitt hires him as head coach. Expect the same thing Stallings is delivering. A bad product on the court

No. The only possible way would be if he had a great staff already lined up. Lets say Herrion as Associate Head Coach with Mike Rice and Orlando Antigua as assistants and Ricky Greer as DOBO (same role at UCF now). I could get excited about that but on his own, Knight isnt anywhere near qualified on paper. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be an outstanding coach but he needs to go to the MAAC, CAA, or America East first

I like Brandin and his contribution and passion for Pitt. But there's a reason why Dixon didn't take him with him to TCU. He'd be better than Stallings, but at this juncture, we need to get someone in here who can bring in fans, has experience as a head coach, can recruit his ass off, can hire a great staff, and knows how to coach defense and rebounding in D1 basketball.

Dude Wanny worked he was let go by SP bc SP didn’t like Dave bc Dave told SP that he was a doosh. Which he was. He ruined Pitt athletics single handedly.

I don’t think he is as good of a basketball coach as Stallings is....but he knows the Pitt tradition and Brand and could probably get better players. That’s where Stallings lost it. Let a good player walk, and could not promote a good program and immediate playing time. The problem now is that we just aren’t any good. I think Brandin could do a better job selling the program

But I’m not sure Brandin is the long term answer either.

Knight isn’t even the top assistant on a bad Rutgers team. Absolutely Not to BK.

Ol white hair Dr Barber thinks it’s a good idea. He said it to me tonight. I sat right behind him in the second half. Courtside for $6.
