Doc Emerick

Oh yeah, he is wonderful, there's no doubt about that. He is the best American hockey broadcaster who has ever lived.

My favorite Canadian hockey broadcaster is a guy named Bob Cole. He is basically the Keith Jackson of Canadian hockey. Just a great, great hockey announcer.

Watching this series is enjoyable enough.

Emerick's excellence on the mike makes it simply cant miss viewing

The guy is terrific.
Last night he said "Jai alai'd it back into his own zone" after a guy whacked the puck up high behind him...great line

Love Emerick. But my personal favorite of all time was Mike Lange in his younger days.

There was a play by play guy in the 70's and 80's who did national games. I think he was also the play by play for the Saint Louis Blues. He was terrific and had a very strong voice. I can't remember his name. Somebody out there remember him?

Very few guys posses the kind of knowledge and do their homework as well. He probably impressed me the most during the Hockeyville broadcast in Johnstown. That was maybe the best bit of sports TV I've watched in a long time. His personal knowledge of the game coupled with an amazing broadcast made a meaningless pre-season game fun to watch.

NBC does sports very well, IMO.

The best part about Emerick is the way that he never fails to use two less descriptive words when there is one simpler, better word available.

ESPN used to use Gary Thorne as its primary PxP guy and a lot of people loved him but I was not among them. I thought he often trampled all over the game and talked over it. Also, he would often ignore what was actually happening in favor of what he thought might happen. I hate that quality in broadcasters.

By contrast, Emerick lets the game flow on its own and he really serves as a narrator of sorts. He's just really, really good and very deserving of all the accolades he receives.

I really enjoyed Gary Thorne from ESPN in the 90's. I thought it was him & Emerick as the top 2 PxP guys in the NHL. Also like(d) Bill Clement as color man, usually paired with Thorne for big games (even though he's a stinking Flyer...)

We have been blessed to have Mike Lange. Mike Emerick is terrific and Eddie O isn't bad as an analyst

Thank goodness no Steigy. Hockey playoffs are great especially listening to Doc. Lange And Borque do a great job on the FM too
