I have been holding out. I am hopeful that some movement happens in the next 2 weeks.

I was told by a high level Comcast executive the the problem is that the ACC is asking for way to much money. He is a reliable source!

No. It would have happened by now. Remember, Comcast didnt pick up ESPNU or ESPN3 until several years after they launched. The only ACC markets where Comcast is the dominant player is Pittsburgh, Miami, Boston, and Atlanta, which also happen to have potentially the lowest concentration of ACC fans in their local markets. Sure, Duke and UNC fans in those markets and other markets where Comcast is dominant (Maryland, NJ, Philly) will complain but not enough of them.

Get DirecTV or Dish.

Doubt it. I dont think you'll see it until their contract expires in 2021.

Yep. I was wrong when I said Comcast would have it by the first game. Turns out they are the only one who doesn't have it. But, I agree that at this point, there is little hope that they will get it before the new contract in 2021 but that's ok. It made me switch to YouTube TV and I love it. One cool thing about it is that it has unlimited DVR so I have every episode of Packer and Durham and All-ACC set so if I'm driving, I have something to listen to or if I need something on, I have a bank of All-ACC's to go to which makes it nice. For example, I haven't watched Friday night's yet but I bet there's a lot of great coverage of Pitt/Cuse so I'll flip that on today probably.

oh yeah, because Comcast can’t afford it. I have ZERO sympathy for any telecom company...they charge absolutely outrageous rates for cable and Internet and should provide an option for any and all programming I want.

ACC network or not, I was told by a Comcast rep there will be a “price adjustment” to my current rate in January. Not sure if this applies to everyone or just me - but I’m sure the rate will be jacked up enough to sway me into finally cutting the cord.

of course. They will add more fees like they always do. That industry needs blown up.

That's not how things work.

They're in business to make as much money as possible and will charge customers as much as they can until customers stop purchasing Comcast services.

Apparently the ACCN customer base isn't large enough to hurt their business so Comcast is prepared to lose that business.

Comcast does negociate hard so I wouldn't expect any change until more ACCN customers dump Comcast.

they make enough money. That industry needs to be regulated like it is in Europe.

There is competition out there so you can elect to drop Comcast and use other service providers. That how it is supposed to work if you don't like their service.

Likely they will raise the price in January and then again later another time after they eventually add the ACCN.
Almost definitely. So essentially their claim that they can’t add the ACCN without raising the prices, which they don’t want to do for the sake of people that don’t want the ACCN, is pure BS.

I admit. I like my comcast. I am going to negotiate a 50 buck per month reduction tomorrow to cover the acc network on another platform or they will force my hand to satellite.

Do it - the more they lose customers the bigger the impact.

For those with direct tv and that live in pa, how often does the signal go out

I'm in year 4 with DirectTV.
It never goes off.
We might get some pixeling when a large rain or thunderstorms moves in for less than a minute or so.
Maybe some brief interruptions in a monsoon downpour for less than a minute.
Snow is no problem.
I got the service contract on the equipment which was probably a waste of money since nothing has happened to anything related to equipment in four years.
The way things work for me is the second I cancel it something will break.
We like it plus I get to watch DirectTV on my phone when traveling for no extra cost.

We've had DirecTV since the mid-90's. It does sometimes lose its signal during a storm, but not enough that we ever even remotely thought we would change to cable. It can go out during a snow/ice storm but we made a tool with a brush on the end that can reach it to brush it off. If we know ice is coming we spray it with Pam.

We're just 4 years with DirectTV.
I would guess the equipment improves and the newer stuff works "better" than the older equipment.
Does DirectTV upgrade the exterior satellite dish thing or do you have the original equipment.
We get more snow than ice where we are in PA but haven't had problems with ice or snow.

I tried that. Although you may have better luck just calling them on the phone. I instead left feedback online complaining that they didn’t pick up the ACC Network. The CEO’s secretary or someone like that e-mailed me back.

I mentioned a few things about the situation in my response including that I was likely going to cancel their tv services or severely downgrade my package. I asked if they weren’t going to carry the network if they could at least credit my bill each month to cover a PSVue subscription.

Of course in the response e-mails I got she conveniently responded to every part of my e-mail except for the credit on my bill. So I simply responded to answer yes or no about that, or don’t bother responding back with all this nonsense about what’s going on between you and Disney/ESPN. I got no response and shortly after cancelled their television services.

I would’ve thought someone works directly under the CEO would be able to credit your bill more easily than just an agent you talk to over the phone. However that wasn’t the case, and actually when I’ve called them over the phone for other issues they’ve usually credited my bill without hesitation.

At that point though I didn’t feel like going through the hassle of calling them and asking with the best case scenario then being I’d have one tv provider and one streaming service, with mostly the same channels on both. I simply just switched to DirecTV and ended up paying less per month. But who knows, if you’re a good negotiator you might have luck over the phone.

I want HBO, acc network, all the ESPN's, and att sports network. I cant get an actual answer online as to the price but I think its time to switch.

Nope - no dish upgrades. Sometimes if we have a lot of heavy snow (not often lately), it can accumulate on the dish, hence why we brush it off.

Turn in your equipment, go without ATTSN for a week or 2 and then sign up again with the new customer promo.

If you cant go a week or 2 without ATTSN, then yes, its a good idea to ask them to reduce your bill by $50/month to cover your Hulu, PS Vue, Sling, or YouTube TV subscription. However, I'd just basically tell them all you need is ATTSN and HBO since you can get everything else from the streamers and see whats the cheapeat package that includes those 2 channels.

BTW, you can subscribe to HBO Now for $15/month on its own if you dump cable. There are other ways to get HBO also so I wouldn't make that a sticking point. The only thing you need cable for is ATTSN.

ESPN/Disney and Comcast are having discussions,” Swofford said, “and I’m sure will continue to have. That’s ESPN’s thing, so to speak. That’s not something we do or have any experience in. We think they’re the best out there in distribution negotiations. So we’ll
see.
“We didn’t anticipate in our initial projections Comcast being on board at this point. So we hope the quality of what the network is and the desire of people to see it will enter into those discussions, and I’m sure they will and Comcast will be on board sooner rather than later.”

Comcast is a tough cookie. As I said, they didn't pick up ESPNU or ESPN3 for maybe about 5 years. But ESPN and the ACC have to be over the moon that everyone else signed on and they only have 1 big holdout.

I got the premium channels for a free 3 month trial with DirecTV. After that you would either have to order their highest package which is a little pricey or just add HBO to whatever package you have, which is $17.99/month on it’s own. Also a little pricey for just one channel, but if you have a cheaper package and just want to add HBO and no other premiums your bill would probably still not be too bad.

I think HBO Now is about $15/month on its own if you have a smart TV or roku to watch it on. I don’t have any experience with it though, so I’m not sure if it’s all on demand content or you could still watch their shows live.
