Does Dixon get any credit for today?

Of course he does. Just like he deserves blame on a night when the team shows up not prepared to play. It's the nature of the business. Only fools don't give the coach any credit for wins, or any blame for losses.

Fans by nature are pretty much square, they tend to judge everything by the last thing they saw.

Dixon just a mediocre 2-2 vs Hall of Fame coaches this year. Pretty average coach. (Though he is 3-2 vs their teams, he shouldn't get any credit for that).

We will see how well we do in March, when it counts. I give him credit today and for getting this team in the tournament, didn't think it could be done, so yes a very good job past few weeks

Why is it so hard for some of you guys ever to just say "good job" without adding a negative qualifier?

Here is a news flash. Without the regular season games, March doesn't happen. They all count.

One of the most impressive things about yesterday's game was that the team played loose, not something to be taken for granted given the importance of the game. JD deserves a lot of credit for that!

No, no, no, judging an entire season based off of a single elimination tournament is the only logical way to operate.

Last 2 weeks have been very good, and what we should expect, with what Pitt has put into the program to win.

Translation: I'm still pissed they tore down Old Pitt Stadium to build the Pete, and unless we get final fours every year, it wasn't worth it. (Even if I do still get a tingly feeling down their when we win the Old Navy Ripped Jeans Bowl).

Yea. You've got me pegged.

My point of this thread really was pretty simple. People bash Dixon when he loses any game and not much of anything is ever said about how good of a game he coached when they win.

I like Dixon and think he's a good coach. He's not the best recruiter IMO but I hope he gets 3 more years to see if he can get it back to where they were.

And for the record - numb nuts - I did talk up some players in other threads.

In case you have been asleep under a rock, Jamie is under contract with Pitt through 2023. So not only will you get your wish for 3 more years, he is under contract for 7 more seasons. Win, lose or draw, Pitt and Dixon will be together for many more years...as Pitt could not afford to part ways, and Dixon is unlikely to be able to do better anywhere else. Hail to Pitt!

No. I'm above rocks at all times and I'm as aware as anyone. I'm one of the ones who's been saying he's not going anywhere any time soon. I said if it doesn't get turned around in 3 seasons I think it might be time for a change but even with 4 remaining I'm not sure it's likely even then. Might be wishful thinking or pi$$ing in the wind. But I'm aware. And I've said on many occasions the only chance is if Dixon decides to leave and as you said - and I agree - that's not likely either. I'm sure he'd be coveted somewhere but not anywhere near like when he got the 10 year extension. But thanks anyway.
