Let your kids play at the end. The FAU coach just had to take a TO late, putting the pressure on his kids to get the ball back in bounds then execute the play, all in the last 10 seconds or so. You coach your team for a year, trust them to do the right thing at the end of the game. The SDS coach let his team go after the missed shot and they are playing Monday night.

Big difference was if SDSU had called a TO they would have had to inbound the ball and run a play against a well organized defense in about 4 seconds. Low percentage of a good outcome. FAU had some clock to play with when they called theirs.

I thought SDSU won despite their coach's decision not to extend the game with 30+ seconds left. It worked out, but barely. Everything had to go right in terms of getting the stop, getting the rebound and then hitting the shot.

If there are any stats that track this, I would bet they say its better to call a TO in that situation. Worked out for SDSU though. Some will say that scramble situation favors the offense but I dont think so.

I understand him having faith in their D to get a big stop. It's the reason they're in the title game now.

FAU shot too early. I would have waited til the last second and shot a 3. Long rebound could have been a offensive board and thats game. SDSU rebounds and there is maybe 4-5 seconds left to get down the floor.

Yes. Wait till 7 seconds shoot a three. If you hit rim best case for Sd St is 4 seconds. Probably less once they start going down the court. Coach May didn't play that right coming out of a timeout.

He thought he could get to the rim and get two either on a layup or at the line on a play that had worked all night. Much credit to SDSU for getting the biggest stop of the night when it mattered the most.

Agree. Surprised that stop isn't being talked about more. I believe the shot was altered/blocked. It was a phenomenal play. Led to the breakout and eventual game winner.
