don't like to talk about attendance but it was hard to watch

Obviously the Pitt athletic department has some work to do. They probably don't really care because they made their money on season ticket sales.

It was hard to see not even one section full. Pitt-Syracuse games just don't draw fans unless both teams are ranked. The small crowd wouldn't look as gross in a smaller stadium.

Not a Penn State homer or an alias for someone else. Pitt played Miami Thanksgiving weekend 2003 and drew about 50,000. This team is better than that one. .so what's with Thanksgiving weekend & Pitt attendance? Penn State and West Virginia will never be Turkey weekend opponents. Notre Dame already has Stanford & USC booked.

Pitt fans should also be ashamed for hiding out in the club lounges watching tv or playing pool. I go in at halftime to warm up but other than that I am in the stands cheering loudly throughout whole game. Felt really bad for those kids today.

James, what are you going to do when Morehead takes another head coaching job? You'll be back to your old unorganized self.

You won't be able to beat Narduzzi anyway.

pitt fans should be ashamed they have been trolled by psu and wvu fans so bad that they themselves bring this up every f'n week even when we draw ok, better than a lot of teams. even against ND , usc had a ton of empty seats today and they are pretty good finally.

james, your a douche, joe same to you, tuck shop gal you would be a slut if anyone would touch your ugly azz. seriously yinz are so brainwashed its embarrassing

We talk about Canada leaving but Joe Moorhead is having an excellent year also and was a very successful head coach at the low 1-AA level. I don't know what jobs will come open but he would seem like a great candidate for a G5 job.

We need to accept that we are a fanbase of 40,000 on average.

50,000 when we are awesome and 30,000 when we stink on ice.

And then plan accordingly.

Well then quit bringing it up. Attendance for a meaningless game in crap weather in a pro town is what it is. If they had mandated that everybody sit in the lower bowl it would have looked fine. Either way I was there and actually couldn't give two craps of the attendance. Get over it and just enjoy the win. This attendance crap really gets old.

Yeah, damn you Joe and the truth. Lies are way cooler.
No the fact that it looked pretty good on tv (student sections only ones bare in lower lvl) but you still gonna cry about it is way cooler.

you guys (fake fans mostly, but a few actual pitt fans who are just such self loathing asshats they jump on board) keep this thing going every game, every season...its old

Pitt has a very good team and one that's exciting to watch. More people should go to games, but they don't. We know they don't and they won't change much unless there's meaningful games to play at the end of the season. Even then, I doubt it would be at capacity. Again, I already know this and won't complain about it as some seem to do after every home game.

Not crying at all. But the fact is that there were around 20,000 people there today. Maybe 25,000 tops. There's no need to lie about it and pretend otherwise. It is what it is. I enjoyed myself either way. It's all those people who have tickets that can't be bothered to show up week after week who lost out, not me.

As I've said before, it's unseemly for a University to consistently lie about something so relatively meaningless. They ought to do one of two things. Either announce the number of tickets distributed (bought and given away) and on a day like today announce 50,000 and tell anyone who bitches that from now on we are announcing tickets distributed like many others do. Or we ought to announce the actual turnstile count. And if that means that on a day like today we announce 21,000 then so be it, that's how many people were there. Instead we announce a number that is literally made up, one that has no correlation to anything other than a number that the athletic department thinks won't make it look too bad. It's silly. It's unnecessary. It ought to be below a fine University to lie about something so completely trivial in the grand scheme of things.

There are more than 20k people just on this side of the field.

"now, if that's a fact, tell me, am I lying?."

Obviously not. And obviously you are nowhere near correct, as the visual evidence proves.

So the only question is, whats your motive for the slander?

Not sure they're lying, but maybe using one of the silly convoluted formulas the ncaa allows.

"now, if that's a fact, tell me, am I lying? 'Cause you, you're part eggplant."
This is the one area that Joe (and others) continually get wrong.

Pitt reports turnstile count. People that actually entered the stadium and had a ticket scanned.

That's why today was 33k and last week was 40k... because there were no students there today.

And yes... there are routinely 5k-10k people in the clubs watching on TV on bad weather days. they count in the turnstile count.

And as your pic shows... Joe's claim that there were "no sections even half full" is visibly false. I don't know what section Joe sits in, but maybe he doesn't have a good view of the home side of the stadium, or the lower bowl.

He should get a P5 job... their offense was garbage last year. Moorehead did an amazing job with them.

Why is it that it's always the posters with 10 effin posts complaining about attendance? I think it's because they are mostly UPS trolls.

Meaningful games at the end of the season would mean capacity or close to each and every time. People come to see consistent winning.

It's not just about winning, but a game that matters. Pitt-WVU as a rivalry game fills the stadium this week as would a game that decides the division title.

Don't you mean diente de leon, James from State College? Oh, you are so clever!

No it wasn't, I was watching ON TV, and the game action was so much FUN, that the number of fans in the stands never crossed my mind. GET OVER IT, when they are 10-2 0r 11-1, there will be more fans.

Actually a really exciting game to watch with all the points scored.
I don't care anymore about attendance.
It is what it is.

As I stated before, I believe the Upper End Zone should be tarped to remove maybe 8,000 to 10,000 bench seats (except for Notre Dame, WVU and Penn State). No season tickets sold in Upper End Zone. Sell advertising to companies who want to market their companies logo's on tarp.

Actually, a very easy inexpensive solution to this problem of "right sizing" Heinz for Pitt.

Pittsburgh Pirates used to tarp down Three Rivers Stadium from 60,000 plus to 30,000.

AD Barnes should explore this option and Pitt can make some money in the process.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

Poster is not of our fanbase.

JamesDeLeon = James The Lion

OP is a fraud and a troll.

True, but I grow weary of the excuses people make to NOT go.

There is no reason that a minimum of 50,000 can't show up each week. There's only 7 games. The majority of the games are played in pretty nice weather. Pitt has one of the best offenses in all of CFB. The tickets aren't expensive.

I wouldn't mind seeing the upper endzone seats being tarped and filling in the upper sideline seats.

Use the endzone seats as General Admission and use sales during the week as a gauge on what sections are tarped.

I am as critical as anyone about Heinz Field. But you are way off on this one. There were way more than 20k there. That's just way off.
