I was wondering what you all thought about this for next year. With the relative lack of experience on the offensive line, do you for see Clark and either Sear or Reeves on the field at the same time? I could see them being a real difference maker while the line gels and the young wide outs mature. Hoping Reeves is better than we expect.

Yes!
This gives a young QB some quick pass options while gaining confidence!

Two tight ends on the field also helps the run game especially if the D isn't sure if they're on the field for a run or pass play.

If we have two good athletes at TE get them on the field!

Merry Christmas to All!

Usually the two tight ends set is to help with the running game. Depending on how
are WR's work out, the two tight ends set might give us better receivers on the field.
IMO, if that happens, it's not necessarily a good thing.

With Ashton back too, I think we'll probably see quite a mix of
21 personnel

Given the complement of tailbacks, I wonder if they won't use some 22 sets with combos of Reeves, Clark, Aston. That might sound stone age, but with two athletic TEs and how they moved Aston and Ollison they could get creative. Come up in a power formation and flex based on what the defense shows.

But... 21, 22, whatever it takes.

Yeah, why not. I don't think we'll be Michigan/Stanford with some of those crazy jumbo sets, but it would make sense to mix in some more power stuff.

Those Michigan/Stanford power run sets require some good offensive linemen. Will we have those? We don't know.

Great movie reference

Completely agree on better use of the tight ends. Helps with a very inexperienced offensive line. I also think we now have a QB with actual football IQ who can see the field and not make every throw a panicked, off balance rainbow. I will say that I don't think Clark's the answer. Give the young guys the chance. Need to find out if Reeves is the beast everyone hopes. Clark sucks - very soft, can't block, drops passes, afraid to get hit. We have to ignore the old "5 star" rating. Doesn't have it between the ears.

Clarke has 5 star athletic talent and the heart of a 3rd string JV player who is only playing because his older brother played, or something like that.

You’re thinking of DeCastro and some of those excellent linemen. True a strong linem allows you more flexibility. But when Harbaugh took over at UM he used those heavy packages to compensate for the woeful OL that Hoke had left behind.
