He really impressed me. Obviously not perfect, he’s a freshman after all, but I loved his athleticism. Reminds me a lot of Lamar Jackson with what he can do. I don’t think that Bell (or Narduzzi) match very well with his style but I’m excited to see what he can do going forward.

And we wonder why Pitt fans are a laughingstock….

I turned on Peak's podcast for like two minutes on my way home from work, and I had to turn it right back off. He said he is comfortable with Dugger as QB2 next season. Like, what? I mean, maybe it's a possibility. But Pitt fans seem to be incapable of nuance.

Did he look good today? Sure. Is there any type of book on him whatsoever? No. Is he on a P4 team playing against a MAC team in a dome? Yep. Is he going to be able to just run around like that and extend plays like that against an ACC team? We have no idea yet. But it's not like he was sitting I the pocket, dissecting defenses, making good reads and accurate throws... you know, the stuff successful quarterbacks do.

Maybe he'll be that. But maybe we shouldn't crown him like we did with Veilleux against Louisville, Yarnell against BC, etc. Wild idea, but maybe we should just be optimistic and hopeful rather than make bold declarations.

Dude, it's just fans trying to find a silver lining. It means nothing to have something to hope for.

Well, with our OL what QB is going to be able to sit in the pocket and do any of those things? Not crowning him anything. Just saying that I liked what I saw from him. He’s obviously a good athlete and showed that he can make some good throws. His spirals are tighter and he has more zip on the ball than anyone we’ve seen recently. Who else would you put at QB2?

If are goal is to make the CFP (which is very very possible with how terrible smu and Clemson is), we will need depth. This dude is a ACC qb 100%. This game didn’t matter at all and he played his hart out. He has moxy and is a beast. Eli will lead us tho but him as #2 is making me very excited for 2025

So the plan is to roll with Holstein, Dugger, and Heintschel, who have like 8 games of experience between them? That is exactly what Peak suggested (along with the two walk-ons).

We're going to bring in someone via the portal, of course, and it isn't even a question.

I was a proponent of taking Dugger; I like him. But there is 0% chance he should be QB2 after one game against a MAC team. He at least has to compete for it with someone who isn't greener than Shrek. Especially with Holstein’s injury propensities.

I agree that they still absolutely have to add another QB. That said, even if it was Toledo, Dugger’s play today makes me more comfortable taking a QB with experience at a lower level over someone who was buried at a P5 school.

Dugger’s play today does make me question what our offense coaches were doing running David Lynch out there for the last few games. I get initially he may have fit better with what they had practiced. But once it was clear Eli would be out longer term, why weren’t they adapting their offensive plan to add some stuff to take advantage of his abilty? Surely that would have been better than playing a walk on because he better fit the status quo.

I agree…he should get strong consideration for the starting job.

Can Duggar play WR next year? Someone suggested prior to today’s game he might be better suited for defense? Safety or elsewhere?

Why wouldn’t he work well with Bell???

He just did

Hopefully he will not be the next Greg Cross, played a good game but never saw the field again.

Lamar Jackson, no.

He did bring back memories of Rod Rutherford, though.
Exactly. Those kinds of posts are great: Black QB, runs the ball some, “reminds me of Lamar Jackson.” I mean, Jesus H Christ, gimme a break.

I can see your Rod comparo, but I don’t think Duggy showed enough arm or threw ot enough to warrant that quite yet. Rod had a cannon.

Dugger looked a lot better than I expected given how little prep he probably got throughout the season. He has a lot of tools and hopefully they continue to develop him because his skills are perfect to build an offense around.

Duggar is very thin and needs, and will, grow into a good size probably. Eli seems to
Be eggshell fragile. Wouldn’t be shocked if Duggar started multiple games in 2025 and was starter in 2026.
Dugger didn’t look too thin, and he looked plenty strong running through contact and taking guys with him.

Dugger showed some positive signs and should have been playing over Lynch, but that Pick 6 was not only an awful decision but he should have tackled him around midfield. It was a lackluster effort to say the least.

Hopefully he continues to get better, but it is way too early to crown him.
