Duzz has never stopped Navy or Ga Tech.

The reason GT and the academies still run triple option is because rarely are they stopped.

Their defense is the Achilles heel of those schools.
No. The reason they run it is because they can't recruit with the big boys and running an offense with little risk that few teams can prepare for gives them their best chance at winning.
If your theory were right, Michigan would be running the option.
But they aren't.

That isnt really why they do it. The do it because of physical restraints on recruits mean the Olinemen are usually lighter weight, so they use other means, such as the chop blocks and quicker linemen trapping.

The same reason the defenses arent great. They simply dont have the run stuffers or able to get to the QB consistently.

What I'm saying if it weren't successful for them they would look to something else. Look at Air Force under Calhoun in his early years. Tons of scheme that has been thrown away since then.

BTW, I've run option for a very long time. I see more navy games and practices than I do anyone else.

The best was 2 years ago. That game was like this one coming up. The season had turned into a flaming disaster after the PSU win and the fans had turned sour and the game was a huge must win. We even broke out the throwbacks for the first time. What happened? We got annihilated in the first half. Then, inexplicably, GaTech came out in the second half and tried passing the ball and got a bunch of turnovers and 3-and-outs. By the time they went back to running it for 10-yards a pop, we had pulled to within a score and we won it with a lucky deflection of a pass that should've been picked off but ended up as a gw TD instead.

They did try a couple passes that year, but main problem was GT only got a few possessions the entire half.
The other game GT went for an iffy 4th down and Pitt got a stop. Then Pitt made a fg hitting the upright.
But its not just Pitt, They blew a 10pt 4th qtr lead last week gaining 600 yds.

They are a shaky road team, their starting RB is out and their starting QB is gimpy.
The two times we beat them it was on field goals, the last time a last second 50 yarder on the last play of the game.

Anyone confident we can do that again THIS year?
Still, it's a home game for us and we should handle them, but like all things Pitt it won't be easy!

Nevertheless, I enjoy watching the occasional triple option game. It's cool to see something different.
