Duzz haters

GT tried to run it. Tenn tried to run it too. I think people overlook how good that WMU QB ran it against Pitt.

I'll go back to the Duzz comment again that they didn't bring enough pressure against WMU. I'm sure that's one thing they'd change if they had a do over.
The more telling comment from Dooz was about the LBs playing downhill instead of sitting on the slant. You can’t get pressure fast enough to disrupt a short slant route. But if after the ball is snapped the QB sees a defender sitting in the middle of the route he has to look for plan B. Then the timing is off and the pressure yields fruit.

Yeah but we are in the acc coastal. Mediocrity is the norm. There are no good teams left. Some teams that can play good in short bursts is the best we will face.

That sounds like what every team we play the rest of the way is saying as well.

Yeah, I don’t believe we’ve done enough to invoke fear from our opponents. Yet anyways. Hope that changes but I can’t imagine the acc coastal sees us as an unbeatable opponent.

For sure. But the more I see of Pitt’s remaining opponents, the more I believe Pitt could finally post double digit wins this season and possibly have a decent shot at an outright ACC championship. Bunch of marshmallows. I don’t think the team has been tested in any meaningful way yet, but I don’t see anyone on the remaining schedule, outside of maybe Clemson, that is truly a “test”.

They didn’t do it exactly. It’s use the same formation and route combinations WMU did. I do agree WMU did a nice job executing

Based solely on our history of coming out on the short end against UNC - despite last year's outcome - I'm going to go out on a limb and consider that game a test.

I hear you-I mean realistically every game is a test for Pitt. We are putting up some really big numbers offensively but we haven’t played a team with a capable defense. Looking at the rest of the schedule Clemson is the only opponent on it that appears to have one of those. We should be able to score a boatload on everybody else.

It's very clear what I said. If you don't understand it, that's on you.

What is it about football fans on this board?
Clear… and absolutely meaningless… just another way to downplay any possibility of accomplishment ahead of time…you play the schedule you have… it’s that simple.?

yeah … what is it about “football fans”?

Agreed. However it always seems it’s one or the other. It can be both. What you say is correct but giving up 44 to WMU still sucks. I realize Pitt isn’t that program that should NEVER lose as a big favorite but the problem is it’s happened too often. Laid too many eggs and I think that’s where most of the angst comes from. And at the time it did feel deflating because this was the year a lot of us thought Pitt could break out of that pattern. And they very well still may. But that game was another kick in the junk. I can’t imagine there were too many people who weren’t even at least thinking (at least like briefly) here we bleeping go again.

It's college football. Everyone gives up 44 to bad teams once in awhile. Alabama gave up 48 to 5-5 Ole Miss last year.

Losing sucks. But it's just not possible to consistently hold teams to about 17. You need to be able to go 40+ in any given week to be good.

The good news is that Clemson's QB is literally the worst 5 star I've ever seen. He has no accuracy, no pocket presence, and doesn't read the field well. He was worse than BC's backup.

Of course, it's Pitt and we lost to WMU so anything is possible. But Clemson is at least winnable on paper. I think their QB is going to have a really rough time against us.

Max Browne?

You saw Milton & Hooker at Tennessee. They have a 5 star kid buried at 3rd on the depth chart behind those guys.

Have you watched Clemson? DJ is terrible. He's not accurate on the short or long stuff. They don't have him throw it deep (might also be an OL problem). Besides being 260lbs, I'm honestly not sure what he's good at.

I think our offense will scare people. But the WMU tape will give hope to all remaining opponents. Va Tech will give us a good idea of what to expect. If we blow them out then it would be fair to expect go 1-1 against Clemson and UNC in tight games and beat the rest. Miami and Virginia are absolute expected wins unless we just Pitt away a few games again like we usually do.

Agree, but he isn't getting much help around him either. He's just a sophomore and I thought he performed okay last year when Lawrence was out.

I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Definitely looks winnable. Clemson offense is a train wreck. But defensively they are strong, and we are not.

As for Ukelele, if you saw him play last year when he filled in for Lawrence, he was outstanding with Lawrence’s supporting cast. All those guys are gone, 9 new starters on O. So I’m not sure how much of his struggles are on him versus the entire offense and that terrible O line. But he certainly has looked bad this year. Night and day from last year.

Not writing him off, he might be a really good QB by 2023.

I do agree that Clemson's offense is worse but DJ was missing wide open slants. Just putting it in the turf. That's on him. He didn't look like a gamebreaker. Might be by next year but has miles to go right now.

260 is his listed weight. I’m thinking that’s a couple of standing rib roasts light from his actual weight. He’s gotta be close to 3 bills.

After the WMU game, even us “haters” acknowledged there were a LOT of wins still on the schedule.

There were a lot of wins on it before the season, and a lot more now. There aren’t many teams that haven’t completely collapsed left for us to play.

It could be true that we’re objectively good, schedule not withstanding. But the idea that every time we win, somebody is going to say, “what now haters?,” when even us haters said we’re going to still win a lot of games this season after WMU, is going to get old fast.

So you're admittedly a Duzz hater?

I’ve seen the same thing you have. Just speculation but maybe he isn’t comfortable and confident enough to stand in there and deliver a good ball due to the O line, lack of trust in his skill guys, etc. He just looked great last year. Horrible this year. The physical tools including that million dollar arm is still there. I’m guessing it’s all mental-I don’t think his mind is right.

I've been critical of Narduzzi, especially after the Miami loss. However I believe we found our version of Frank Beamer. Not an "elite level" coach, but a good coach who wants to be here and will from time to time compete at a high level. Congrats to the players, coaches, etc on a great season! Here's to two more wins!

We found our Beamer
There’s a statue of Beamer outside their stadium, right? I can’t bring my mind to even think about the possibility of a Narduzzi statue someday. But if there is a desire for one some day, then things are going to have to get really good around here. So I’ll help commission it!

Wow, this just seems right. And if it is then we would be super lucky! I will say this, it does require a really good QB to beat us. One that can make the right throws. As much as I believe Pitt is better than Wake they do have a QB that can and will make those throws. Thankfully their defense stinks so hopefully can make enough plays to counteract Hartman. It's going to be a great game I think.
