Duzzi was clearly not happy with the offense tonight...

I'd expect he and Chaney will be having a frank discussion tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if Duzz gets a little more involved on that side of the ball.

He's a defensive guy. As much as I hate Chaney I don't want Duzz getting more involved.

Lou Holtz was a defensive guy who got more involved in the offensive side when he became head coach. That seemed to work out pretty well for him. This offensive performance was unacceptable. If I am Narduzzi, I absolutely get more involved with the offense. Not saying Narduzzi starts play calling, but he certainly needs to be more involved... dissecting with offensive coaches what's working and what's not and why.

HUGH, What exactly do you expect from this offense? Pitt had 415 yards. They didn't turn the ball over & time of possession was over 35 minutes. For this unit, thats pretty solid looking at the big picture.

Time of possession is overrated. It's about total plays. PITT ran more plays. That tells me we had a lot of short plays and no explosive plays.

That was the difference. UNC hit a few big pass plays that won them the game.

C'mon TD seriously??? UNC should have had 3 interceptions and Chaney's dink and dunk calls were putting me to sleep. Ollison should have gotten most of the carries, not James and there were countless WTF questions with the playcalling. Add to that the mismanaged end of the half disaster and no, solid is not a word that comes to mind.

I'm no Chaney fan, but from my seats it looked like Ollison had a limp late in the game. I've always liked Chris James and it's not like either RB was breaking big runs.

Didn't notice a limp but in regards to James - he was just too easy tonight to bring down. Seemed like UNC had much more trouble with Ollison.

True, but we have no explosive players. Once you get past Boyd, there is nothing there that strikes fear in any defense.

I do not see having lots of yards on offense as being a moral victory. I see it as proof this offense is not able to finish drives properly. I could care less about Pitt having 415 yards. That is an empty stat. It means diddly unless those yards result in TDs.

How many times did the offense squander opportunities to score by calling some silly plays. Where the hell was Ollison? I expected to see Chaney pound the ball with one of his best weapons,Ollison, and tire out the UNC defense. Give the kid a chance to show you what he can do and even possibly break one. Instead, Chaney would rather send little Chris James up the middle again and again into a stacked box.

You mean to tell me if Chaney fed the ball to Ollison several times after they got the ball back from the blocked punt, he wouldn't be able to pound it in for a TD. Come on.

There was no rhythm on offense. No continuity. Often at crucial moments, plays were being called that had a very low probability of success.

We have enough talent on this offense to easily have scored at least 14 more points. The defense stepped up in the second half. Our offense (which was supposed to be good this year) did not. Ollison is not Conner but he would prove to be plenty good if Chaney would just use him more.

Ollison ran better than James and should have been in there more if he wasn't injured. It's as simple as that. Ollison was moving piles and breaking tackles, James made a couple of nice moves to miss tackles but he wasn't breaking any.

Right after the block it was Chris James for 5, Chris James for 2, sack.

I have a lot of issues with Chaney, but that series isn't one of them.
Maybe Ollison converts on that series. Maybe he doesn't. You're talking about 2 plays. I think the larger issue is the run game design in general.

That series was one of the issues I had.... It was with Narduzzi too.

I have no doubt Ollison gets it in the end zone if you keep feeding him the ball. No doubt! The red zone is where he thrives. He's proven it time and time again. Heck, he even did it once in this game.

Ollison for 7. Ollison for 7. Ollison for a TD.

Yes, I also had big issues with many of the run plays, as well.
