Hard to get a read on mid majors, but if I recall correctly, this is the team that made the tourney and the coach guaranteed a win against Georgetown, but lost? They lost their best player and a few starters from last year, so this muted much of my concern. That being said, seems a decent program and they are favored to be near the top of their conference. At a minimum, might be a decent RPI game, but might be able to shock you if things fall their way? Like I said, they had so much turnover, I don't really know what to make of them and their chances.

They probably aren't as good as Kent State, but about as good as Detroit. They would give Duquesne a good game. I expect a high scoring, entertaining game. I saw them first game of the season versus Howland and Mississippi St, and they were winning the whole game till a total meltdown in the final 10 minutes or so.

Speaking of our OOC schedule, Kent and Detroit have really had a good run of games since we beat them. We need those two teams, and Duqensne, to keep piling up wins. And beat Davidson.

UMES and Western Carolina probably the real two RPI anchors left.

people keep downplaying the OOC, and for sure other than a few games, there aren't a lot of big names, but E Wash, Kent St, Detroit, Morehead St, Davidson. Those are all teams that will likely do well, some will make the tourney, and can even beat you if you are not careful. Those are actually pretty good teams to play OOC. Won't be likely to beat you, but will win a lot of their conference games (most seasons).

Looks like an early line is Pitt -18.

They definitely aren't as good as Kent State. They aren't as good as Duquesne either. Detroit would be favored over them as well, except maybe in a game at Eastern Washington. They aren't as good as any of those three.

Pomeroy ratings as of this morning:

3 Purdue, 65 Davidson, 106 Kent St, 134 Morehead St, 135 Duquesne, 168 Detroit, 195 Eastern Washington, 203 Western Carolina, 272 Cornell, 305 Central Arkansas, 322 Maryland-Eastern Shore.

For reference, VT is 119 and BC is 236.

Purdue looks to be favored in every game until late January or early February.
