Excerpts:

ACC COASTAL:
16. Miami.
26. Pittsburgh. Pat Narduzzi will have another new offensive coordinator after Matt Canada's departure, but at least the Panthers will get a promising new QB in USC transfer Max Browne. Contending in the ACC Coastal will require Narduzzi figuring out how to get this team to defend the pass and rebuilding the offensive line.
28. Virginia Tech.
41. Georgia Tech.
48. North Carolina.
66. Duke.
84. Virginia

BIG TEN EAST:
3. Ohio State.
5. Penn State. The surprise Big Ten champions become one of the nation's most entertaining teams. They'll return nine starters on offense, including QB Trace McSorley and RB Saquon Barkley, with a deeper offensive line, too. Plus, offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead is sticking around after getting head coaching overtures.
14. Michigan.
42. Michigan State.
61. Maryland.
71. Indiana.
111. Rutgers.

BIG-12 TOTAL:
8. Oklahoma.
12. Oklahoma State.
20. Kansas State
21. Texas.
23. West Virginia. The Mountaineers aren't entirely sure when Florida transfer QB Will Grier will be eligible yet, and there is rebuilding to do with key players like C Tyler Orlosky, CB Rasul Douglas, DE Noble Nwachukwu and WR Shelton Gibson gone. Once Grier hits his stride, pairing him with RB Justin Crawford gives this team plenty of hope.
36. TCU.
53. Baylor.
62. Iowa State.
63. Texas Tech.
109. Kansas.

The SEC should return to be the best again and has no Bottom Feeders, ACC continues to improve and only 1 Bottom Feeder, PAC-12 pretty close to the ACC if not even with just one border line Bottom feeder, Big-12 is improving and with only one Bottom Feeder, Big Ten leads again Bottom Feeders and will be overrated as usual. The Big Ten must prove it is not the Big Pretend this year. Fool Pollsters once early like last year and then end as 3 Mediocre Conference weal links beating up Big Ten Bottom Feeders that are even even weaker links and then crushed in Bowls. The Big Pretend puffing up wins on more weaklings than any other Power Conference as usual.

1. Two highly ranked OOC games is a bad way to bolster your program. Pitt needs to schedule better.
2. Don't understand how Va Tech is lower than Miami and Pitt.
3. How does the Big 12 have that many top 30 teams?
4. PSU is still better than OSU but will never get the love from the press.

PSU "still" better than OSU?
The NFL sure doesnt think so. Might be time to check into rehab.

The blood letting in Columbus for that game next season is going to be painful for the Peds

No one can have more than a superficial understanding of 100+ teams, so these rankings are based on paper-thin knowledge.
Just look at what they said about Pitt and the OL. On most teams in America, year after year, OL starters are comprised of upperclassmen, meaning teams are having to replace OL starters every year. Pitt has 3 returning starters, with a combined 8 years of starting experience. Plus, one of our new starters is a fifth year senior who was a starter a few years ago.

So we need to plug in one new guy. That is a hardly "rebuilding the offensive line" as this synopsis states.
Next year, Officer and JJS will graduate and O'Neill will probably turn pro (Bookser could go too, if he has a great 2017). Next year we will be rebuilding the OL, not this year.

So with that little understanding of Pitt's situation, how much faith do you put into where they rank Pitt, or anyone else?

1. Two highly ranked OOC games is a bad way to bolster your program. Pitt needs to schedule better.
Remnants of Pederson Poison still in the Pitt System no other way to put it. WVU is better selection and would sell out Heinz every other year, unlike OKST if Pitt is to play a Big-12 Team. Playing Penn State does the same. But I see your point nonetheless, many Programs are scheduling easier OOC to get into CFB Playoffs. PSU OOC has been horrible and they claim it was due to Sanctions Scheduling, and PSU plays a number of Big Ten Bottom Feeders along with other Big Ten Programs. this is why the B1G was so overrated as many went 10+ Wins against some very bad Programs. This year PSU has Iowa, Northwestern and Nebraska plus Pitt so at least PSU has improved the Schedule Strength in 2017 and 2018 looks tougher too adding Wisky.

2. Don't understand how Va Tech is lower than Miami and Pitt.
Many changes if you read the Link, Pitt also has had pretty good success against VT under Beamer and if Pitt had a Defense last year, I think they would have beaten VT instead of lose by 3? Fuente coaching and recruiting has improved VT, so your views are accurate speculation. I thought it odd too. Pitt is getting Higher Expectations since finally beating Two Top Ten Conference Champion NCS I suspect!

3. How does the Big 12 have that many top 30 teams?
Only a 1 to 3 Teams in the Big-12 actually beat Ranked Teams now that TCU and Baylor has faded. OU Dominates and OKST recent rise and KSU is always a surprise due to Snyder's Superb Coaching, but Texas is back. WVU won 10 games but did not beat a Ranked Team. My view others can differ. Big-12 plays all 9 Teams but TT, ISU, and Kansas are usually easy wins too.

4. PSU is still better than OSU but will never get the love from the press.
Penn State Program Resources is just as Big and Strong as Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame on Recruiting Camp Invites of 3,000 from 8th to 12th Grades. However, PSU now makes less Money then ND, OSU, and Michigan and Michigan, ND and OSU is usually Ranked a Tad Higher too even with Franklin doing a Good Job in that aspect. However, Coaching is suspect at ND now but don't play PSU right now. Franklin got by Meyer last year now Franklin must prove it can beat Harbaugh. Dantonio, Ferentz, and Alvarez-Chryst all got a lesson last year.

Yet, the Penn State offense was one of most Inefficient in CFB in 2016 and it must be seen if they can improve on it with 4 Quarter Play or just few lucky catches and some Teams did not prepare for that kind of games.

If McSorley improves as expected they can be Better and Great, if he stays the same they will face better prepared Teams, and if Trace The Ace goes down, it could be a disaster. Trace The Ace makes that team go better than Barkley! Joe Moorhead Offense works best in its first year but Big Ten Coaches will now have to prove they can stop it.

Joe Paterno actually ended up 5th best Coach in the Big Ten before retired showing he had a tough time keeping up and others at lesser Programs beat him too, like Iowa, NW, and Minnesota under certain coaches. Franklin still has to show he can beat OSU & Michigan more than they beat him. Still, the Big Two Rule the Big Ten as usual and OSU invite shows you are correct about Big Ten and National Press.

Can Franklin be better than Paterno will make PSU Fans Excited and Grateful to the PSU Trustees, Erickson, and Joyner that were responsible and that would be acceptable to the hypocritical Elected Trustees even though that would not please them and Cult Dolts to bring the Patreno Statue back?

Agree, all Early Predictions and Projections are on quicksand ground until the Rosters of August are decided for Starters, then September Adjustments, the October Injuries, and finally November also make the Predictions seldom remembered.

The only analysis if one adds up all Predictions then one can see a Consensus but most are based on last year anyway more than true deep analysis of Players and Coaches surprises and forgetting about Analysts Paralyses.

Stassen does a Consensus Analysis of all Projections Rankings by FB Websites and Magazines every year and provide a Consensus, but always some sleepers and a few teams not living up to expectations!

Not sure I understand what you mean? PSU gets pretty much everyone back and they just got done winning their conference. I don't like them as much as anyone but it's difficult to argue that Ohio State looked as good as they did at the end of the year.
Ohio state played in the final four and did it with a new roster virtually everywhere except QB. We will find out, but PSU won't look so good after Pitt beats them.

Most Early Predictions are "IFS" Illusions, including your own just now, I did not rank them, I just linked them for discussions and welcome all responses to them, like you just did too?

Here is another good read to help predict the Pitt-Penn State game and many "IFS" on Penn state 2016 Inefficient Offense Link by a Penn Staters:
Excerpts:

The Penn State Offense Needs to Become More Efficient in 2017
That being said, every offense has its flaws, and Joe Moorhead's tuddies battalion is no different. For all of its entertainment and success in 2016, the Penn State offense was very below average when it came to efficiency. According to Bill Connelly's S&P+ ratings, the Lions ranked No. 80 in the country when it came to offensive efficiency (as defined below) in 2016............But the bottom line, is that while Penn State's offense was ridiculously explosive, they likely won't be able to live off of Trace McSorley tossing up deep balls for his receivers to makes plays on for a second season in a row.......First of all, the offense will be without their best contested catch maker in Chris Godwin when they take the field against Akron. The team's No. 1 receiver of the past two seasons decided to declare early for the NFL Draft, leaving Saeed Blacknall to fill the hole left behind. Blacknall has made his fair share of big, contested catches over the years, but he's yet to prove he can consistently do it over the course of a full season the way Godwin did...........Secondly, teams are going to have a full offseason to review tape of the Penn State offense- and you better believe they will use every minute they have to do so. Moorhead's offense caught a lot of teams by surprise in 2016, but many of the teams on the 2017 schedule will be seeing his offense for the second year in a row......But with the benefit of the offseason, defensive coordinators will have at least somewhat of a better idea on how to defend Trace McSorley, Saquon Barkley, and company................Despite the Heisman candidate's overall success in 2016, the Penn State running attack was not very good statistically or on a play-to-play basis.........

This is why it good to follow other Teams and read what will be the "IFS" problems for them and Pitt too since they may have to deal with as well. Along with Good Lair Posters from other Programs and Panther Posters like you that post and discuss such things and come up with "IFS" as well. Only way to mutually learn and I Thank You!

Penn State isnt anywhere close to being better than Ohio State. The Buckeyes are going to smash them by 4tds this year.
