Early bowl projection has Pitt in

They have 6 of Pitt's opponents in bowls so it won't be easy getting there. Penn State, Notre Dame, Central Florida, Miami, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech are projected to be in bowls too.

Sorry wrong board.

Still can't figure out why teams with less than 8 wins can get into bowls. I know, it's all about the money and that's what college sports is now.

Also, why is this being discussed on a hoops board? I haven't even thought about football.

It is not just today. Iowa State went to a Bowl with a 5-5-1 record in 1972.

Let's be honest, does it really matter if the teams in the Independence Bowl, or the BBVA Birmingham Bowl, or the Calabash All You Can Eat Crabfest Bowl have 8 wins or 7 wins or 6 wins or even 5 wins? Really? The R&L New Orleans Bowl? They are just pure filler games for the networks. So.....either you watch or you don't.

This is the football board

This thread was on the hoops board for a while, then relocated.

But I think most bowls are meaningless exhibition games except for the fans of the teams in them. And even then, it's questionable. And if you win less than 8 games, what are you doing there? College sports has become so diluted now. And Pitt football has been irrelevant for so long, I forget what it feels like to be excited about Pitt football. We'll have to get to 8+ win seasons for at least 5 years in a row for it to get somewhat relevant again. And forget the Trojans Ultra Sensitive Bowl or whatever bowl they fabricate. It will have to be one of the major bowls for it to matter again.

There’ll be folks on this board calling everyone who doesn’t go off to far flung cow towns like Shreveport or El Paso to watch Pitt play a 6-6 SEC/PAC12 bottom feeder a bad fan, same thing if we don’t go to wonderful winter time cities the day after Xmas like Detroit or Ft. Worth to see Pitt play a 7-5 MAC or AAC team.

And that’s fine. If that’s how they want to spend time and money over the Holidays. I don’t. No way.
