Sweet 16
SEC 7
Big Ten 4
Big 12 4
ACC 1

Played out like chalk for the most part. The SEC has a very real chance to get 4 teams in the Final Four

Aub/Mich vs Mississippi/Michigan St goes

Fla/Md vs Arky/TT goes

Bama/BYU vs Duke/Az goes

Ky/Ten vs Hou/Purdue goes

Probably going to be 3 which would be fitting for the greatest single season conference in NCAA sports history.

Well the old big east was pretty dominant back in 1985. The final 4 was comprised of Georgetown, Nova, and St. John's, with outsider Memphis. I suppose that the SEC was a deeper conference this season tho. They have work to do to get 3 entries in The final 4, so we will see.......

I’ve heard so many people saying that this tournament was lacking that “something”. It’s definitely the lack of Cinderella’s.

I was never a big fan of Cinderella's, but it seems like many of the games I watched had a ton of fouls called and the refs wanted to be the star of the show. The action seemed pretty slow paced.

I thought that the free transfers and redistribution of talent from the mid-majors to the P4's would cause the gap to widen and maybe it has but its really just been this year.

They literally ruined the NCAA tournament drama with the end of game replays on every single potential item. Five minute reviews for tenths of a second on the clock. All of the drama is sucked out of the sparse number of close games.

And not to be that guy, but the announcers. I'm sorry, these females are really bad and should not be doing the play by play. That Maryland ending being announced in that awful monotone, fake excited voice was an excitement suck.

Every announcer should have to listen to Kevin Harlan for 8 hours straight as part of their training.

all P4 teams in sweet 16, first time ever. Not even the Big East can crack the club

Just too much money involved, it seems.

Florida Atlantic assembles Cinderella mid-major team and gets to the Final Four (misses the championship game by one point).

Michigan: "We'll take that coach. Oh, and we'll take your big man, too."

Arkansas: "Here's a million for you guard."

For as bad as things are for Pitt, I can't imagine how discouraging it is for some of these mid-major programs. If one of their players flashes anything, he's gone.

And it's going to get worse, assuming that you think that a lack of Cinderellas is worse, before it gets better. As more and more of the money is concentrated in the hands of the P5 more and more of the best players are going to be concentrated there too.

Didn't FAU run it back last year and thud pretty hard?

schools like Gonzaga, Butler, really weren't Cinderella's but good programs that could compete at a high level but weren't in a P4 conference. I think the days of seeing programs like this might be numbered.

Lost in the 8/9 game, but just making it is a pretty good feat for that school. But yeah - running it back one season is still better than nothing, I suppose.

They had no business making the NCAAT. Resume was awful but they were ranked in the Top 10 preseason and beat Arizona in November. They did nothing else all season but got in easily despite the terrible resume

Yesterday I went to the gym during the Florida vs UConn game and started my workout with about 5-7 minutes left. The end of the game lasted for essentially my entire workout. That’s crazy.

I guess I'm in the minority. I think the sweet 16 matchups are excellent. I would much rather have these games. In the sweet 16 elite 8 the Cinderellas usually get blown out.
This. The first 2 rounds are nothing but weed out rounds. Cinderella has no chance at winning the tourney, but on a given night, they can be a land mine for team that actually does have a shot at the title.

Yep. Few Cinderellas are going to have that one player that carry a team for a night on the big stage. Big schools are going to scout the nation and turn over every rock to find talent they can scoop up with NIL money.

Lots of blue bloods preying on the Div 2 LMU Railsplitters to pick off Elyjah Freeman and Wes Enis. If they can find players in some BFE town of 1000 in the mountains of the KY/TN border, they can easily find them in D1.

SEC no joke

Elite 8
SEC 4
B10 2
B12 1
Independent 1

I thought it was funny how the Duke announcers had to reference their weak schedule and not being in close games like they are Gonzaga. What a joke the ACC has become.

The SEC with a chance to get 4 in the Final Four. Duke got an unfortunate draw. As the #2 overall seed, they should have drew #7 Michigan State. Instead they got #6 Alabama, who are as good or better than #4 Florida or #5 Tennessee.

I think Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee win so it will come down to Duke/Bama to decide if the SEC gets all 4.

Florida has to get through Finnish Shaq. Just call him FedeX, cause he's the X factor.

Here are the ranks of the Elite Eight teams in average margin of victory this year.

1, 4, 5, 6, 9, 15, 18, 22

It is almost as if the best teams frequently outscore their opponents by large margins. Shocking, right?

In fact every P5 school that is in the top ten in scoring margin is in the Elite Eight except Maryland, who lost in the S16 to Florida, who is better than them at 4th. And there are only four P5 schools with a better scoring margin than Alabama's 22 that aren't in the Elite Eight, and two of them lost games to teams that had a better scoring margin than they did.

Duke with another 20 point win over weak ACC opposition tonight.

Wait, what? They weren't playing an ACC team they were playing a mighty SEC team, and yet they still won by 20? Huh. It's almost as if one of the best, if not THE best, team in the country routinely beats teams by large margins.

Who could have ever guessed such a thing?

Duke and Gonzaga are great independent programs.
