I am guessing that Capel was ok with them leaving now.

No point for them to risk injury and no sense wasting more team time on them if they aren't going to be here. Get a long look at Jeffress/Sibande.

PSN termed it "mutual." Some things have happened behind the scenes. Sounds like there was an altercation of some sort recently.

My guess is they weren't happy here and Capel wanted the last few weeks of the season to try out the new guys. Timing is odd for sure though.

We may never know the full story but I started to think yesterday X was encouraged to go. Again I’ll refer to Capel’s comments the other day. I’m at the point I’d bet on it.

I agree. I don't get why this can't wait until the season has played out.

They just played the ACC Champion a competitive game Saturday. Despite the record, they have hung around in most league games this year. This team should be working to improve and fighting to make a run in the ACC tourney. Without a big crowd, Covid risks, etc. I think a lot of teams that have their NCAA bid wrapped up are going to mail it in this year. Or at least not play with same intensity as they would in a normal year.

It was literally about 5 days ago too that Champ said how this team was much closer together. Time to move on.

Time will tell whether Capel was the problem or if it was X/Trey/Toney. I ran into Murphy's Dad last year and he said X/Trey were on one side of the locker room and the rest of the team was on the other. He wasn't a Capel fan either. Who the hell knows, whole thing is a mess and doesn't reflect well on a program that was 0-18 two years ago. Hope he can right the ship from here.

But there were rumors last year. His people weren’t happy with how he was being used. Now of course I realize it’s just rumors. But something is going on. 3 games left and these guys just up and leave? At minimum I still think Capel did nothing to get them to at least stick around and finish out the season. My dad’s theory is that as soon as Justin started getting national attention - X was jealous and started playing bad by doing too much
Which is honestly a reasonable take
Perhaps toney likewise isn’t happy that he’s not featured -
But at least he alway played hard on both ends .

Because wanting to go somewhere else does not make you a Pitt player, so as soon as you reveal your intentions, you are done
