have to admit I underrated the guy. He should've beaten ND twice while he was here.
Guy showed class - at least stayed a few years.

I wouldn't read too much into one game. MSU isn't all that this year but they got a lot of pop from beating a ND team that is a trainwreck defensively. Ditto for Texas.

Let's see what Bucky does in his next 4 games.

He did beat ND in 2012. Doesn't matter what the scoreboard said, everyone on Earth knows the refs gave ND two Christmas presents that night. I will never consider that a Pitt loss.

They beat LSU to start the season.
Guys a good coach

Yeah but Stinks that he had House Running the defense at the time but he is a good guy. Tough not to root for him and Wisconsin in the big 10

He is a decent coach.

Very impressive today.

Michigan state quarterbacks stinks. Which begs the question how bad is Notre dame defense?

But Wisconsin will lose 3-5 games this year but great job today

Guy is a good coach. Pitt is the issue, and it's many disadvantages.
I agree and disagree. Pitt itself wasn't the issue, it was Pederson at the top of the athletic department. Obviously nobody has any respect for Todd Graham anymore, but I can't blame him. He realized day one that working for Steve Pederson would be far from ideal.

I though Chryst was an "o.k." coach while here. Some good times, some bad times all things considered. At the very least though, he deserves a ton of credit for building a really solid foundation for Narduzzi to build upon. It's a lot better situation than what Chryst walked into here.

That was a middle finger from Big East refs who were butt hurt that Pitt was leaving for an adult conference.

At this point saying that Wisconsin will lose up to 5 games is pretty out there. They already have beat LSU and mich st. I'd say they are heading for at worst 9-3.

Ironic because the whole mess for years was because Notre Dame had a stranglehold on the Big East.

They play @ mich, osu, and @ Iowa next 3.

They will go at least 1-2 maybe 0-3. Lose one more and bowl game that's 5: but I said between 3-5

Only thing worse than the officiating in that game was the officiating in the 2007 Backyard Brawl.
There was also the robbery in '07 at Rutgers. Game winning TD pass despite interference by Rutgers DB. But they weren't gonna let that happen, phantom PI call on Oderick Turner.

Of course before today it was "let's see what they do in their next five games."

Those moving targets are always tough to hit.

That side of the Big10 blows. You have them losing 5 games!!!? Sure hope you're not driving!!!

They will be dogs in 3 or 4 games. Probably win one they shouldn't and lose one they shouldn't.

If they had in season over/under win totals would put Wisconsin at 8.5 slightly juiced to the over.

I'd take the over every time. If you count bowl game I'd say 10 is the o/u.

No. Not for a good team. There are 2 elite teams in the Big 10. Sparty's big win looks hollow after today.

The fact that you don't get the irony of someone who sticks up for James Franklin at every opportunity bagging on Paul Chryst all the time just makes your posts on the subject that much funnier.

Franklin's winning percentage at PSU is still better than Chryst's was at PITT. I don't think Chryst would ever come close to 24-15 in 3 years at Vandy either.

How does Franklin's winning percentage in the Big Ten compare to Chryst's? You know, since that would be their most comparable coaching stints.

I wonder why you didn't make that comparison?

Because they are not comparable. Chryst took over a Wisconsin program that has 3 Big Ten titles since 2010 and won 11 games the year before he arrived. Franklin arrived at a scandal-ridden, sanctioned, talent depleted program. Hardly fair comparisons.

Not to mention, the Big Ten West is a chithole.

But if they had just made a 33 yard FG, they REALLY WIN! Another typical Pitt debacle, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

Yeah true, not a ridiculous task to ask a college kicker to do. Should've had another chance at the kick, but who knows if he would've even made that. Of course there was also K'Waun Williams with picture perfect coverage, played the ball as good as you possibly can on any given play.... pass interference.

That royally pissed me off, but personally I took advantage of it. Bet the house on 'Bama in the championship :p

Because they are not comparable.

Not in your world, no, they aren't. I'm going to let you in on a little secret though. The people running things at Penn State think they are pretty comparable and if your hero continues to perform so much worse than a coach that you think is terrible your hero is going to find himself out of a job in the not too distant future.

But when that happens I'm sure you'll be here to tell us all that if it wasn't for the sanctions Franklin would have been a huge winner.

He isn't my hero, but he is a coach I like. It isn't realistic to expect him to turn PSU around in 3 or 4 years. Given the situation, that wasn't realistic.

However, I agree he is on the hotseat, and deservedly so. Recruiting has been a major disappointment under JF. This year is shaping up to be another mediocre haul for Franklin and co.

BTW, I've stated all along that Chryst is a better fit at Wisky and that he will have more success there than at Pitt. Of course that isnt saying much when the high water mark is a $5 pizza bowl championship.

And again, no. They are not comparable.
