I watched the second half of the UConn Cindy hoop game last night. Very good game that went to overtime. ESPN kept splitting the screen 2/3 action and 1/3 close up of one of the coaches.

Who care about watching 40 seconds of Hurley close up girating while the game is in play. They did this repeatedly with both coaches being highlighted. Just keep the action on the screen focused on the actual game.

Also Hurley is tough to watch for 40 minutes. He is challenging every micro piece of detail during the game. Arms swirling, tap dancing, his head swirling around like the girl in the exorcist movie. Goofy.

Good coach but too much theatrics for me

Did they have the coaches mic'ed up? Because one of the stations did that last season, I think it was FS1, for a game and it was fascinating getting to hear what the coaches were yelling out to the players and the refs as the game went on. But if they were doing that without being able to hear what the coaches were saying then I've got to say, no thanks, I have no need to just watch a coach walking up and down the sideline.

Not miked up. It’s distracting because you can’t watch both screens at the same time. Maybe they felt that both coaches are very animated and going up and down the side line that this would be interesting. You couldn’t do this with coach K because he usually just sits still.
