Really good kid. Looks like he’s finally been recruited over. Peaked early. Never really produced at the high major level. WPIAL basketball stinks.

Averaging 10.8 MPG. Would like to see him transfer to Pitt for his final year, especially since we likely lose Carrington. Would provide good depth.

also, why does Purdue basketball always have a goofy looking balding white guy?

No, he wouldn't be a good depth option.

I mean he’d be a steady pass first depth PG. would like to see him come back and help us.

WPIAL basketball stinks.
Considering the WPIAL has produced 1 or 2 NHL Draft picks on average for many years running (including Lottery-level picks like Logan Cooley and this current kid on the US U-18s), it’s safe to say that WPIAL hockey is a much better product.

Do those kids play HS hockey though? HS hockey sucks. The best players only play club.

Would be a star for Duquesne especially since they are graduating two guards.

Those top prospects are not playing WPIAL hockey. Typically are long gone and the high school hockey product is average at best.. poor comparison

I pretty much watched every Ethan Morton high school game since he started as a freshman because Butler is my alma mater and I have to say Purdue just isn't using him correctly. The first couple seasons Painter had him playing offball as a spot up shooter and that just isnt his game. He needs the ball in his hands. He was never the best shooter but he was phenomenal at getting to the basket scoring and drawing fouls and the way Purdue's offense is set up with Edey eating up so much space down low he is not capable of doing that. If he was in a better offensive system that suited his playing style i know he would be putting up much better numbers. He is though probably by far the best passer I have ever seen in high school and that is something that is not taught or valued these days.

Pitt has 1 open spot for next year at this juncture. I’d prefer another good 3 point shooter that can play the 2 or 3. Morton doesn’t fit this profile.

He can’t score. His passing does not make up for the lack of play making and scoring. He should be in the A10.

Perhaps he excelled at getting to the basket and drawing fouls against WPIAL competition, but it's a completely different story trying to do that in P5 college basketball.

That was an egregious missed charge call in the WPIAL championship and Ethan Morton should've ended his career with zero WPIAL titles. An indictment on any player going P5 in hoops in western PA

Morton to Colorado State and the 2025 NCAA Tournament. He will average 10 PPG. CBS will slobber all over him and his Rams team and they will get dusted in the 1st Round. Easiest prediction ever.

He won't average 10 PPG.

In 132 games played for Purdue, he averaged 2.0 PPG.

It is what it is, so save your BS for something else you know little about.

The Mountain West is horrible. He will average 10 and Colorado State will have a NET of like 25 and then get killed in the NCAAT as always.

Did you watch him shoot the basketball this year?

It was sort of like this:

Hope the best for the kid. Reading the story in the PG yesterday made you feel for him as he admitted to being a broken player after his experience at Purdue. It’s really a testament to how narrow your window is as a player as missing so much of his freshman year to illness set him back and these programs have to just keep rolling on. If you don’t click at the right time, you get recruited over.

I will have to read the article, and I have no doubt he expected to be a much bigger contributor, but he did play on a team that was a National Championship contender the last 2 seasons. I’m sure with the way Painter brings quality players and people into that program there are other really good players struggling to find meaningful PT.

Being part of a national championship appearing team is something special. Plus he also should have a degree by now, right? Purdue's a solid school, hopefully he took advantage of that.
