I thought Dixon coached a good game yesterday. Today was another story.
Yeah. Not to call you out, but I watched the game with the volume down and in a crowded restaurant. I was surprised Luther didn't play more in the 2nd half, but it simply seemed like a better team imposing their will. So I am curious what could have been done differently.
So basically if Pitt wins JD done good they lose JD bad. Got it.I think he could have tried Wilson with Robinson to at least let Robinson rest while playing. I thought it was a mistake to take Maia out while Pitt was playing well early in the second half. We stayed with what was working yesterday, today we changed for no reason, After Maia sub Pitt began to play sloppy, individual basket. We started to go one on one and dribble into traffic again. As a result we turned the ball over and opened the court. The lineup on the court became a defensive sieve.I think it is a mistake to ever play Young, Jeter and Artis on the floor at the same time (How do you teams shoot 60%?).
We are definitely not in Carolina's class talent wise, but a little of this and a little of that may have keep the game closer.

That is not anywhere near an accurate representation of what I posted.
You do this after every loss, so I would say it is.
I vote for you to be the next coachMy complaints about the program (consistent over the last two - three years)
1) Poor recruiting - Barton has to go
2) Poor roster distribution - Not enough points and power inside players - too many tweeners - too many combos
3) Jamie's inability to settle on a rotation (aka identify his best players)
4) Sagging defense that makes no attempt to create turnovers - We are extremely easy to play against.
5) Jamie's stubbornness to run our stuff on offense and defense - He makes very little effort to adjust or take advantage of an individual teams's or player's weaknesses. We make no effort to overpower small teams or turn over teams that have trouble handling the ball, We are very easy to scout and coach against. (one noted exception this season: Jamie has used Luther on at least two occasions to take advantage of apparent mismatches)
6) Young, Jeter and Artis are horrible on defense - It is ridiculous to have them all on the floor together.
I vote for you to be the next coach

Your no Donald TrumpThanx - I really appreciate that - I knew I would win you over
I promise to make Pitt basketball "Great Again!"
What do you do after every game? Seriously, please give me an accurate description of what YOU do after EVERY game.
I don't throw a temper tantrum like many on here do.
I don't like how he posts, but when does anyone say they are wrong? Very rarely. Including you and me.Its comical Bob.
This guy cannot see he does the exact same thing as the people he calls out. Post after post, at the end of every game. Acually he is waaaaaay worse. His view is right and everyone else is wrong lol
You asked him what he does, he told you what he doesn't. Ask again. In your own way you do pal.
You asked him what he does, he told you what he doesn't. Ask again.

I'm self aware enough to know that I certainly instigate posters at times. IMO, people like Bob, Gary, poker, etc that make constantly negative and ridiculous posts deserve it.
I used to be like you, so I tell you from experience, chasing these guys down is a waste of time. They won't change, and you end up becoming like them. I don't mean specifically the guys you list, because I like some of them. I mean in general, some people are going to be over the top. I know it is a bit hypocritical of me to say don't do it, because I did, but learn from my experience, you are only causing yourself grief, and only entrenching them deeper into their position, thus the divide on the board, trust me, there are ass clowns on this site. Bob calls them on their stupidity too. But you can't control everything. Take that for what it's worth. Which is not much.I'm self aware enough to know that I certainly instigate posters at times. He's rich and has had a lot of hot women and owns a lot of great golf courses. Why he wants to be president who knows!Thank God
So he can "make America great again." He's the best at everything - just ask him - so what else is left for him to accomplish? He's rich and has had a lot of hot women and owns a lot of great golf courses. Why he wants to be president who knows!
Coach Pitt to the final four!So he can "make America great again." He's the best at everything - just ask him - so what else is left for him to accomplish?
He should have played Maia more, but it would not have made a difference in the outcome. UNC is one of the most talented teams in the country and they played well. The End.I thought Dixon coached a good game yesterday. Today was another story.
Not with those midget fingers .Coach Pitt to the final four!

Maybe he could get Mexico to build a wall around W. PA, so we could keep all of the good talent here.Coach Pitt to the final four!
Might need a bigger wallMaybe he could get Mexico to build a wall around W. PA, so we could keep all of the good talent here.
In my opinion, there was nothing in Dixon's game day coaching that seems like should be highly criticized today.
There was a good game plan and the team was prepared mentally to play.
The better team won.
If your thought is that Dixon was outcoached because he hasn't recruited better players, nor over time has he been able to turn them into better defenders, then I would agree with this.
This is not meant to be HIGH criticism - But:
Let me ask you - You do not believe something or someone should have been tried/inserted to try to relieve the constant pressure on Robinson? Maybe some combination of Robinson, Wilson and Smith or Jones. (Jamie had stumbled on the lineup of Robinson, Wilson and Smith against Geo.Tech. That lineup brought us back and got us out to a lead. That was an instance of not staying with a lineup that had Pitt playing well.
You do not believe Pitt and Maia was playing well in the early second half? Why the sub there?
You do not believe that a combination of Young, Jeter and Artis helped UNC be as efficient on offense as they were?
Young and Jeter were backed down, bumped off or spun away from almost every time they attempted to guard someone down low. The only times that did not happen is when they lost there man completely, Is that accurate or not?
Yes - We have talent limitations but there were things we could have done (or tried) that would have kept the game closer today - not enabled us to win, but certainly be more competitive.
Robinson was by far the best chance we had against pressure. Anyone else would have been a strong step down.
Nonetheless, neither you nor I cannot prove that any different lineups would have been better OR worse against UNC.
All I saw today was a really good and balanced team defeating a team that is good when the matchups are in their favor.
UNC had too much size inside, and they can shoot the rock. Pitt isn't deep enough or good enough across the board to beat them, regardless of what the coach does.
I just don't understand any angst here. Yes, Pitt isn't as good as UNC. We knew that all year. Until Pitt gets a true post game, with a couple of legit big men they won't be able to win those games.
And yes, the lack of good bigs is on Dixon. And yes, the lack of better shooters is on Dixon. But he could have coached the greatest game in the history of coaching today and it wasn't going to overcome the deficit in talent on the floor. Pitt was in the game until UNC wore them down and exposed their flaws.
Build a wall around Mexico with a tunnel to The Pete.....Let's take all of Mexico's four and five star talent...Maybe he could get Mexico to build a wall around W. PA, so we could keep all of the good talent here.
Jeter and Luther scored 19 combined. The non-Brice forwards for UNC combined for 18.I certainly get that UNC is better than Pitt. I did not expect us to win. I did not get upset like I get when we lose games we have a chance to win.
I just believe you ride what is working when it is working and you "try" to make an adjustment when it is not.
No more - No less.
Not to criticize you or Harve, but sometimes I make a point or points and you talk around the edges of the post rather than deal with the specifics. I asked you three questions. I do not see an answer to any one of them -. Merely an observation that we can not be sure if any other lineup would have been better or worse - What is that?
Do you think I in anyway suggested Robinson not be the person primarily handling the pressure? I did not. I suggested maybe playing with Wilson and Jones/Smith may have helped him handle the pressure - Cam at the two not so much. (but I forgot we have Artis playing point forward)
Not being a coach, I do not know, but suspect there may have been a scheme or different lineup configuration to try to help him out (and I do not mean having someone else merely advance the ball to midcourt). I refuse to believe that UNC can make one adjustment and completely take Robinson out of the game and there is nothing we can even TRY to do about.
But I guess you are right. Gregg Marshall did a similar thing (doubling the ball screen) with Woodall and there was no adjustment tried then either.
I can only hope that with better players in the future these problems will disappear. HTP
Jeter and Luther scored 19 combined. The non-Brice forwards for UNC combined for 18.
That was hardly a problem yesterday.
Berry going for 20 was.
Maia has no impact on that. WE know you're a big Maia fan...but how many more minutes do you think he needed? We kept it close with them because WE WERE SCORING WITH THEM, not because we were getting stops (they shot 57% in the first). Maia gives no offensive support, and wouldn't be a difference maker on defense.
