.....just made a catch for Temple. Our last 2 4 star WR have not exactly came into Pitt ready to make an impact. One is already gone while the other took a RS as 2 other players(WR) in the same class contributed as true Frosh(Ffrench & Matthews).
I remember that many on the site took issue w/ Ffrench (who at the time was a 2 star) while they were indifferent about Matthews until he accepted to St Penn. Then he became a wanted recruit.
Just saying it really is funny how opinions change about these kids based on nothing more than arbitrary star's awarded or certain schools interested.
Last year all I heard was that Flowers would be the player to compete for time as Ffrench & Matthews were resigned to RS years. When I suggested that Ffrench(because of that speed on his recruiting film) would get PT this year I was considered a wishful thinker & worse. Opinions did change about Ffrench later on as he was upgraded to a 3 star.
Now I am fully aware that Reuben very well may contribute on down the road if not next year. I am not one of these members that think 4 star kids are ready on day 1 to contribute just like I do not dismiss 2 star kids as being ready to contribute on day 1. These rankings & recruiting sites have no idea what makes these kids tick inside & who has what it takes to step it up on the P5 D1 level.
I hope Adonis continues to play well for Temple.

Adonis looks like he put on a lot of weight/muscle in his time away from Pitt. I always thought he would do well here even, but had to add weight and he has.

I was always a fan of Matthews and wanted him at WR. He ate DB's alive at camps where he went and somehow was a polished route runner even though he didn't play that position much in HS.

Ffrench....he had a couple nice plays, but I still don't think he'll be as good as you think. He'll get recruited over imo.

Flowers, I still think he'll be a stud and playing on Sundays.

I never said I thought any of these players would be good or not. The point of the post was how not to put expectations on recruits based upon rankings or offer sheets.
But I do find your already seeing Reuben Flowers going to the league while discounting the abilities of Ffrench when the staff is passionately fighting for his talent on their side of the ball. That alone tells me this staff is very impressed w/ what Maurice Ffrench is capable of on the football field.
Your response kinda confirms/reinforces my initial post. But I hope that Flowers lives up to half of your expectations which would make him a damn fine Pitt football player.
