With the NCAA announcing that the current pandemic-inspired recruiting dead period would be extended to January 1, some big questions emerged. The dead period prohibits in-person contact between coaches and recruits, which means recruits cannot visit campus and interact with the coaches. And since this is an extension of the emergency dead period that started this past spring, the class of 2021 is now looking at approaching the December Signing Day without ever taking any official visits.

Obviously, this is pretty significant.

I started wondering if any of Pitt's 19 committed recruits would consider holding off on signing to see if they could get an official visit done in January (although I doubt the dead period will be lifted then). So I asked the commits; here are the guys who said they still plan to sign in December:

Elliot Donald
Nate Yarnell
Myles Alston
Terrence Rankl
Javon McIntyre
Brandon Honorable

I didn't hear back from Nahki Johnson or Stephon Hall yet, but I'm sure they're good to go. And I'll check back in with some of the others. We should also keep in mind that a bunch of Pitt's commits plan to enroll in January; I would assume they will sign in December, too. Here's that list:

Myles Alston
Malik Newton
Rodney Hammond
Nate Yarnell
Jake Renda
Trey Andersen
Terrence Rankl

Nahki Johnson and Javon McIntyre are also possible additions to that list.
