Fake Punt Strategy

I don’t understand why u would want to rely on a novice Australian punter to complete a 20 yard pass when the ball could have been snapped to an up back to run 4 yards. I am just baffled about this play while I am driving on this horrible bumpy Indiana turnpike worse than any toll road in PA. It appears that this was Narduzzi call. Anyone else?
