* We looked really good against VT, winning by 19. VT... is not the dismal doormat they usually are, thanks to Buzz Williams. The have the 4 wins including UVA at home and GT on the road... and only lost to UNC by 5 at home and to ND by 2 on the road. They are a high energy team that really brings it. But, we blew them out by 19, not because they are bad but because we played a great game.
* But, we played a great game against ND and then a terrible game against Ville. We then played a good game beating FSU on the road, but then a bad game losing to Clemson on the road.
* So, so far this year, it has been feast or famine.
* The question that should thus be asked, is have we righted the ship now or are we looking at more bad or terrible games down the road.
* One thing that impressed me about how we played against VT... ALL of our players were doing a good job of staying between their man and the basket on drives. ALL of them. Did not do such a great job of not collapsing to the inside and giving their man an open 3ball shot so... there is still a lot of room for improvement but still we played much better D in this game then we have been playing.
* Starting Jeter really gave the team a spark and, given UVA starts two Fs inside, we will probably see it again against UVA. If we have problems with size mismatches inside then Dixon will have to use Maia or ANO more. I am high on Jeter and believe he really needs more PT to work out some of the glitches in his game.
* Luther, Wilson and Slim also made significant contributions, while Jones is struggling mightily these days. I would thus like to see more of Slim at SG as at least Slim can score. Otherwise, Slim only gets in the game when Artis is sitting.
* As far as feast or famine and whether we are gonna see more bad or terrible games down the road... I guess we will just have to see.
* Oh, one last thing. In his presser before the VT game, Dixon impressed me as looking kinda tired. Kinda like he has been working his butt off trying to correct the problems that exist with the team. That is good. Hard work pays off.
