Tough 10 game stretch coming up

It only became stronger (not strong, stronger) because of the bid stealers. Before that the bubble last year was thoroughly meh.

Like it always is.

I dont know what standard you guys use to measure the bubble. Its like you expect there to be P4 teams who are 24-7 to be there or something. That's not who is on the bubble. It was so strong last year BEFORE the bid stealers because the Mountain West had most of their league in contention. Also, the Big East was in the same boat though they got shafted. There were so many teams with a shot that Wake, a team who would have made it in some years didnt even have a prayer.

The fact that most of the Mountain West made the tournament, the fact that a team like Virginia made the tournament, and several other teams as well, shows that the bubble wasn't strong. If it was, those teams would have been no where near it.

And it never is. It's filled, for the most part, with somewhat above average power conference schools. If any of those teams were actually good they wouldn't be on the bubble (barring circumstances like injuries).

It's the ACC, so it shouldn't be THAT tough but our next 10 games all happen to be against NCAAT teams or teams that still have a chance. Except Syracuse but that's on the road and I dont think Capel has won there when there wasnt an insurrection going on.

6-4 would be good. 5-5 acceptable. 4-6 and its back to the bubble.

0-2 now

Very tough stretch for us. FSU on the road becomes bigger and that's a toss-up game. We'll probably be a 2 point favorite. They are good for some reason. I haven't watched them but the JUCO transfer 6'11 Malique Ewin is supposed to be big time and will probably have 15 rebounds. AndAnd Jamir Watkins is having a good year averaging 18.

Need to go 5-5 on in this stretch to stay in the field. Next 4 are huge. We can win @ FSU, Clem, @ Syr, UNC to go 4-2 and then @ Wake is a guaranteed loss, UVa a guaranteed win and hopefully we can split @ UNC and @ SMU to go 6-4. 6-4, 9-4 overall and we are pretty safe.

Today was a classic post blowout home stinker. This does not mean I wanted us to lose or I'm a troll. I could smell this coming after Tuesday.

I ended up not picking a side but hit the over 149.5. I never take the team we're playing, so would have taken Pitt if I took a side. Peter Rose I am not.

0-4. Now need 5 of the next 6 which is highly unlikely. Needed these home wins to balance out the probable road losses.

This was always going to be a tough 10 game stretch, which is why I said 5-5 was acceptable. 5-5 is probably not realistic anymore but if we can go 4-6 in this stretch, we are at least on the bubble as we head into the much easier portion of our schedule.

The next 2 @ Syr and vs UNC are must-wins and its very possible we win them. We've never won at Wake and won't start this year so that's a guaranteed L but then UVa's YMCA squad is a guaranteed W. Then we somehow have to split @ SMU/@ UNC. Or do the impossible and win in Winston-Salem.

3-7 in this stretch seems more likely but if we can manage 4-6, we'll be like Last 4/First Four Out at the end of it and that gives us a chance.

Pretty depressing to read what we thought 4 weeks ago as we now sit at a dismal 2-5.

Not many of any of us saw this coming, I sure didn’t. I would have been disappointed with 5-5 back then and that was before Dunn was back. They really had me fooled.

And it’s not just the losses, but there was a lot of promise in Cummings and perhaps even some in Papa and Jorge which has completely vanished in this losing stretch as we are going down with 6 guys with zero player development. I can’t name one guy who has improved since conference play started.

Pitt’s NET drops 3 spots from 33 to 36 after the loss to Wake. Pitt desperately needs a blowout win at home against Virginia on Monday to get their NET Rankings up some. There is still a long way to go in this season and more time for some quality wins but this team still feels nothing like the team did last year and this team has a much better chance of making the tournament then last years team did at this time. They have to figure out a way to start winning some of these close games against these better teams in the ACC.

Torvik dropped Pitt to 49 (last year Pitt finished 30). Only good news is that the Orange win at Cal gives Pitt a 5th Q2 win (for now) but they really need to take 4 of the next 5 starting tomorrow.

Yea they obviously have to take care of business at home with Virginia, Miami, and Syracuse and they better get one of those two on the road at North Carolina or at SMU.

I said 5-5 is acceptable and 4-6 is back to the bubble. We are now 2-7 in this stretch. Best we can do is 3-7 and no chance we win at SMU. As bad as the ACC is, we were unfortunate to play all our toughest games in 1 10 game stretch.

It was a fun November/December at least. This team is finished.
