we we’re going to score with that 1st and goal. I wasn’t and am disappointed that it unfortunately went down as expected, unimaginative play calls trying to stuff it in against a DL that was stuffing us all day.

We didn’t even need to be creative, could have just duplicated what the Steelers did on their goal line playing ending up with the TE wide open in the end zone.

99% certainty the 1st play was going to be a straight ahead run, we knew it, the stadium knew it and the VT defense definitely knew it.

4th down play may have been the worst though.

I didn't mind that run on first down... even though they didnt get in the end zone. it took off a good bit of time off the clock - which still left them with plenty of time for three pass plays. The horrible decision was the next run up the middle with Hall- not only was that play not working all game, but the OC should have known it was very possible that Hall does not get in and the defensive players pile on him afterwards to kill much of the clock- which is what happened... which forced a hurried next pass... and then a final terrible call.


Watson was absolutely terrible today- there is no defending those plays he called.

Yeah I thought they would have passed on 2nd and 3rd down to ensure the clock stopped and if neither of those worked they’d still have 4th down to do run or pass.

I was watching with my grandmother and she still doesn't understand the whole knee down concept. As soon as I saw the review untold her we lost. She then stated there is still time and I said we will find a way by playcslling not to get into the end zone and lose by a yard or 2 in the last seconds. I got a free cookie for being right. I gotta admit I was hoping Weah was down so we could run clock and give VT very little time. I was pretty sure VT would kick a GW FG if Weah scored that TD.

Honestly I was thinking the exact same thing. Figured if they score there the minute left would have allowed VT to get in FG range and we know opposing kickers don't miss against Pitt.

Yes. But that would have been expected knowing the history of this defense. But it wouldn't have been such a punch in the gut as being stuffed from the 1 on 4 straight plays.

That 4th down play trying to run wide left was plain stupid. Same play that got blown up in the first half on 3rd and 2 at the 12 yard line. The field goal miss followed that one.
