It never gets old beating boeheim, here are some thoughts:
- This team has seemingly lacked heart for most of the season but I thought last night was a great showcase of talent and heart. I thought the refs were atrocious in the beginning of the second half. They were doing their best to give the home court calls. Touch fouls called on Pitt but Robinson gets knocked over and Luther gets hacked on the forearm and no call. Artis came through with some big shots and actually reminded me of when Carl Krauser used to hit a pull up 3 when we needed a big shot.
- Lack of dumb plays...while there was the Luther pass to no one and Young/Artis continue to force the action and turn it over in the paint, in general this team played with a ton of poise. This was a really fun game to watch and I worried Lydon was going to ride a career game to beat us.
- This was a unique way to beat the orange. Usually we have a forward in the soft heart of the zone near the foul line distributing but we used it more to get open 3s. While we only shot 8/23 from behind the arc its a little skewed bc we started 1/7.
- We finally have an identity...offensive rebounding. While most of us wrote it off when we rebounded so many misses against UNC and some will do the same here citing the zone, we had 3 players with 3 or more offensive rebounds.
- This is Artis we were waiting to see. 21/11/4...just a great game and Young was a beast on the boards too.
- Luther is turning into our glue guy/Levon Kendall. 6 points, 1 steal, 2 assists, 5 boards in 19 minutes. What a REALLY like about him is his ability to always come up with the hustle plays because he's playing hard.
