footballscoop.com says it's official. Canada is Pitt's new OC

Hmm. If this is in fact true, this could be a step up from what we got from Chaney. One article I read about had two things that jumped out at me, one positive, one negative.

The ding against him was that in a key losses this year, he didn't utilized his best players enough. The positive is that he is NOT a system guy; he doesn't try to fit a round set of personnel into his square system (ala the Fraud, RichRod, etc.). He is flexible, and works around his personnel. Also supposed to be good at developing QBs, especially mobile ones like MacVittee.

I see it an upgrade, but had a couple of the other names out there ahead of him.

He spearheaded a very efficient offense this year, ranking #22 in the country. Pitt was ranked #37 in offensive efficiency.

Canada has to absolutely love the potential play makers he is going to have on the offensive side of the ball next year. If Conner is able to make a historic comeback, this offense could be extremely effective next year.

Welcome Coach! Now go get some more players to help this team out!

article I read on coach canada while at wisky was......he replaced our former head fb coach Paul as OC at wisky. he was OC for buliemia(sp) for one year before buliemia jumped to ark. article stated he and buliemia clashed about play calls-and bulimia finally acceded to coach Canada, and thereafter, wisky crushed Nebraska by scoring over 70 points . Canada is mature coach who has moved about. one really wants to find out the reason he got bounced at NC state, after wringing out a raise the year before, with a contract extension. nevertheless, lets give him a chance.

A tweet from Dokish summarizes things well; everywhere he's gone, he's teams have put up big points and big yards both running and passing, and done so without big-time talent.
