Who in the now-deleted thread said that Sagarin is "bogus" because teams are "often rated ahead of teams that beat them."

In today's AP Poll..... 12 teams are rated higher than teams they were beaten by. That's your criticism of Sagarin?

Michigan State is rated higher than Nebraska in the AP.
Michigan is rated higher than Utah
Alabama is rated higher than Mississippi
Oklahoma is rated higher than Texas
Florida is rated higher than LSU
North Carolina is rated higher than South Carolina
Stanford is rated higher than Northwestern and Oregon
Florida State is rated higher than Georgia Tech
Oregon is rated higher than Washington St
Mississippi is rated higher than Memphis and Arkansas
Toledo is rated higher than NIU
Temple is rated higher than USF

Sagarin is a MUCH more accurate representation of relative team strength than the AP, which is voted on by sportswriters who haven't even seen most of the games that teams outside their region play.

Lastly.... mods.... there's no reason to delete a thread that has spirited discussion with PSU posters. Let them post. pittpsu wasn't being disrespectful.... he was just being WRONG.

But I am okay with that. We are fans and make overblown statements. He was dead wrong but I like that lively discussion

In many of these circumstances, we get "triangles":

Nebraska beat Michigan State ........... who beat Purdue who beat Nebraska.
Ole Miss beat Alabama ........... who beat Arkansas who beat Ole Miss.
LSU beat Florida ........... who beat Ole Miss who beat LSU.
Washington State beat Oregon .......... who beat Stanford who beat Washington State.
NIU beat Toledo ............ who beat Central Michigan who beat NIU.
South Florida beat Temple ......... who beat Memphis who beat South Florida.
Texas beat Oklahoma ....... who beat Iowa State who beat Texas.

From a purely mathematical POV, if you take each of those "triangles" above, you can't say anything in terms of Team A being better than Team B.

In terms of a true assessment of Team A and Team B, you have to almost "throw out the results of the triangle" and just look at the rest of the resumes.

E.g., An Ole Miss/Alabama comparison ---- their game against each other plus their games vs. Arkansas gets neglected. You have to solely compare the other 8 games on their resumes.

I think what you are trying to say is that at this point in the season teams have played more than one game. And should be ranked accordingly.

Does it really surprise anyone that a nitter didn't understand that?

He actually wanted to say both narduzzi and Franklin haven't proven anything and essentially they are equals

chris, please let reasonably respectful PSU fans post here. the BWI website is a joke, we don't want to be that.
The BWI site moderators need to be moderated out of existence.
