Assuming we lose to Clemson and win against Ga.Tech ( but anything is possible for both games) we would finish the regular season at 8- 3 which most of us predicted when the revised schedule came out If those two friggin one point losses to NC State and BC were reversed.I know it’s not reality and will finish 6-5 instead but it seems like every year recently it’s a similar scenario. Last year the two losses to Miami and BC prevented an 10-3 season. The year before when we won the Coastal the losses to Miami and Stanford put us at 7-7 instead of a nine win season. We need more playmakers on both sides of the ball which I think these past few recruiting classes are starting to produce.
Great job to the players and the staff by not throwing the towel in after the four straight losses, the Ford opt out , numerous injuries and of course the COVID issues. I think if we get most of the players back for the Clemson game we could be competitive with them and who knows What could happen. But even with a loss and a win against GTech and if they allow bowl games and we get an opponent we could beat 7-5 would be a disappointment but considering the four game losing streak and other issues somewhat acceptable.

If you have a normal 8 game conference schedule and 4 ooc games this is an 8 or 9 win regular season. It’s about what one would expect.

You can't look at only the games we could have won. There are also plenty of wins in there that could have been losses.

Without covid, this team probably would have won 9-10 with the orginal schedule. Twyman alone could have turned those type of games around.

Another year, another long list of excuses for Narduzzi. What will you come up with Next year for him, any glimpse into the future for what these excuses will be?

Notre Dame and Miami are still losses. North Carolina is probably a loss. Virginia and Marshall are toss-ups. We'd have probably went 8-5. Maybe 9-4, though.

Supposedly Twyman opted out to help his family. Not sure if that was Covid-related or not.

We went into this week the 51st best team according to Football Outsiders F+ rankings (FEI + S&P+).

People pretending like, “Well, the original schedule might have hidden how average the team is with some baked in wins” just need to stop. We get it. You can hide anything with the right schedule. That’s not really the discussion the rest of us are having.

It's like some people can't understand that if you play a bunch of close games against teams that are decent, certainly not bad but also no where near top 25 teams either, that the most likely scenario is that you too are merely decent. The fact that we've played so many close games against teams like Louisville, NC State and BC means that we are right there with them in the middle of the ACC pack. If we happened to have won them all we would still be a middle of the pack team. If we had happened to have lost them all we would still be a middle of the pack team. The record might look a little different. The actual team wouldn't be.
