Former McKeespot LB TJ Neal to grad transfer

Wow 109 tackles, 14 for loss...but only 2 sacks, 2 pass break ups, and 2 QB hurries. Sounds like he made most of his plays against the run rather than rushing the passer and making plays on the ball during pass plays. Ya figure a player with one year left to show the NFL what he can do would rather play in a blitzing scheme. 6'1" 235 lbs. Last year was his breakout year. Got this info from NFLDraftScout.com. Could help soften the blow of losing Grigsby, who was the most underrated player on the team this year in my opinion.

He is a new dad and wants to be close to home. We would get a good player and maybe even develop a rel'ship with McKeesport as well.

Tough schedule next year I see. This guy would be a huge get. Honorable Mention All Big Ten his first year as starting OLB. Get this guy in here. I don't follow recruiting but this guy has already proven to be a gamer at this level.

Is he more talented than our young LBs? Certainly more experienced by a mile, which I never discount. But unless he has the quick, aggressive tackling instincts that Narduzzi cherishes, he won't be too interested.

His tackle total looks good, but playing for Illinois, most tackles are made well past the line of scrimmage, where a LB can rack up tackles.

Anyone remember watching him play at Illinois, who can comment on what type of player he is?

He had 14 tackles for loss and was Honorable Mention All Big Ten his first year as a starter. Illinois had one of the most improved rush defenses in the nation. I'm guessing he'd help.

Sounds like he might help us, but might be hard to find a scholarship for him if we pick up a few more commits.

Go Pitt.

I don’t remember him….did we offer?

After the NC Thursday game last year, we were in a sheetz near Johnstown, lady with Illinois gear on headed to crappy valley to see here son play LB for Illinois. She was from Pittsburgh. I asked her why he wasn't playing for Pitt, she said they didn't offer. Probably the same kid.

I looked it up. He was offered by us, USC, Auburn, Nebraska, Florida, tenn., nc state, WVU and a few others.
