Franco Harris is a pure loon

I am embarrassed as a 10 year old I ever wore a Steelers # 32 jersey...

Seriously...

I'm not embarrassed to say I also at 10 wore a #33 Pitt jersey...

Harris is a well known psycho whack job and I wish that piece of crap was never associated with anything having to do with Pittsburgh. Every time I ride down that escalator at the airport, I want to go over and spit on the status of him on the way down. Or take a ball bat to it. He needs to be in a mental hospital.

Glad he continues to show remorse and compassion to all the victims who were abused by a vermin in the Penn st football facilities.......not!

Its really pathetic. And a reason the whole country shakes their head in disgust.

Ok I forced myself to read it....worse than I thought....some lions paw is apparently lost....poor lion dont know what to do ....oh and is very confused...( no folks this isn't Nick at night)...graduation rates...media bad....devil....bad bad bad media.....he is somehow shocked a president and coach who should have retired decades before being canned can in fact be fired by a school.....and Franco wants to build a wall.....you can't make this up.

oh then he ran out of bounds.....

No, this is not right. We know who we are. WE ARE LIONS.

We will erase the lies.

We will reclaim our home.

Being a Raiders Fan, I dislike that CULT Leader even more, although that IR Play(I cannot say for certain if the ball made contact with another Steeler Player-forget his name, as it sure looked like it to me, but as fans we see close plays with our own bias) was before my time, I see it enough in old highlights from the 1972 Game. But his Insular CULT Mentality is even worse, as FB Games are not life & death, so I do not go through life miserable that Franco made a controversial catch to beat the Raiders. I even get over PITT losses by the next day(even the losses to WVU the past 10 years).

I have no idea if Franco has grandkids, but I wonder if he does and it was one of them that McQ told Paterknows that he saw being sexually molested by Sandusky, if Franco would think that waiting the weekend, then just telling his 'Puppet' AD would have been enough by the Most Powerful Person at PSU in 2001?

Good thing at 10 years old you didn't wear it near Ped state land.

I just played golf with a OSU fan from Ohio. He said every time someone mentions PSU in Ohio they go right to Sandusky. He said if they just would STFU about the whole thing it would be in the past. They just can't do it..........Some athletes need to be in the headlines whether they are still playing or not.

Bingo! I have said that the last few years. They are ones keeping the topic alive...

He fits right in up there in creepy valley! He is bat sh*t crazy.
Sadly, he was as nice a guy as you'd want to meet 40 years ago. Obviously he has some major problems dealing with reality. Paterno treated him badly when he played....ran him between the 20's, gave the ball to Lydell Mitchell to score. He used to be Pgh treasure....now he's an embarrassment.

I can't believe I open up this board, and then see this thread and I just feel compelled to have to open it. It is like a car crash, you just can't help to look.

1.) Madden spot on. He has been calling Frano and Hines scumbags for 10 years now and is correct.

2.) How much would it cost to get the Franco statue removed from the airport? That would be the perfect go-fund me page that more than just Pitt fans would donate to.

3.) Next time I go to the airport, I'm hanging a sign from that statue. What should it read to embarass that fool.

I once shook his hand when I was 10. Of course I washed it since then, many times, but just in case, I'm heading to the bathroom to scrub it again.

Franco is still nice guy. He is also blindly loyal to Joe Paterno. You have to remember he was there early in Paterno's tenure when Joe was really striving for "Success with Honor". Of course shortly after Harris left PSU Paterno's ego grew to be boundless and it all became nothing more than a successful marketing campaign with JoePa as the demi-god who made all thing possible.

Franco is just another JoeBot who refuses to acknowledge the truth of the situation because of their indoctrination into the myth that PSU is better than everybody else and somehow special. Those goofs believe it to their core. It's weird.

It is funny because Franco's brother was an example of a kid JoePa wanted nothing to do with because he was a "goof off" (Paterno's words) and was horrible academically, but he took him because he was a talent.

Too bad Franco, Lubrano et al didn't open up their damn eyes and mouths before the scandal became public. They had, what, 40 years? Where were you then Franco? Now your hero's legacy burning in hell. Shame on you.

Good thing he did run out of bounds. Think how much more brain damaged he'd be with dozens more blows to the head.

If you did something like that the only fool to be embarrassed would be you.
Franco is the embarrassment - as is the statue.
Maybe someone could rub shoe polish on his butt to celebrate pants crapper Joe? That stupid statue gives Pittsburgh a bad image. Should have something celebrating polio cure or transplants - not football. To reiterate - the dumpy statue is a disgrace . Put it in some museum or junkyard with the pedaphile lover Paturdo

Now one must wonder why Franco never addressed these 2012 Reforms were needed and how The Grand Experiment and Success With Honor did not have these Laws, Policies, Rules, Procedures, and Compliance's in place prior to 2012?

How can Penn State have Success with Honor and require so much Reforms if everything that happen under the Paterno Era was above reproach?

Franco, consider maybe Slogans were not Practices after all under the Paterno Era, but are today, so what Reforms will Franco demand be removed, since they were never needed as in Franco Letter?????

Franco, I can acknowledge Joe as great coach, family man, and just loved CFB, but you should honor Penn State as a place now, that prefers to protects Children over protecting a Legend and Legacy of winning Football Games, society won't allow you to do both anymore.

When Franco can ask the Halo over Joe Paterno's Head be removed and a Chair with Sara Ganim image put next to Paterno and Spanier be removed too.

Franco will know what Society knows, it is not about Winning 409, but being brave enough to stand up to do what was right and in 2008 to 2012 Sara Ganim did that as a Penn State Alumnus, and Joe Paterno just reporting it to superiors in 2001, following it in 1998, and now possibly knowing about it in 1971-76-87-88 was not as brave as what Sara Accomplishment of Values over the Accomplishment of Autumns!

Someday soon that is going to happen and all of Penn State can unite, move on, and be proud of being a University where protecting children, treating families and winning football games under compliance, rules, and laws is far better than anything done from 1966-2011 by anyone or any one person!

If it is full of lies, and deflections, that would be a Hitlary speech, thanks.

Making things up?
Nope PnnyLiar, just linking Penn State Policies that all can see Online and explain to me by some Great PSU Alumni that are proud of the 2012 Reforms and why they were needed.

We can still see you changing names so you can cover up too, the Michigan Boys exposed you. Penn State's Policies Links to Think refute you. No one needs to make up anything?

It is another SOS that Penn State needed to Reform, and you can thank a Salute Of Sara (SOS) for it and being a Brave Penn State Alumnus strong enough to report on the truth and avoid any cover-ups unlike a few at PSU like you, that can't defend what happen.

No one needs to tell you that what determines a man or woman's legacy is often what isn't seen until later.

What is critical is when that moment they had a chance to re-clarify the difference between anti-hero and hero. When many Penn State Leaders insisted to attack Penn State Football critics, many leaps like barking dogs shouting anyone down, while staying in stoic silence of support.

The problem is that no longer compares with today?

You naysayers would not be so dismissive of the genius of this individual if you would recall, like me, the "Ford Talking Car" commercials that he starred in sometimes in the early '70's. I wish I could find a link...

Franco has ratcheted up his dogma in the last few weeks. At this point, he's backing himself into a corner. The Alumni association was so embarrassed by his antics, they refused to release the speech video from some Lion's Paw award. Reads like he's doing a weird monologue in a twisted interpretation of Les Miserables.

Here's the transcript. (link above)

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them.” – Albert Einstein

Welcome everyone…friends…my family…my Penn State family…thank you for being here today. To the Lion’s Paw…thank you for letting your awardee have a few minutes of free expression… after the last 5 years this is like a breath of fresh air! We have been experiencing quite a time in Penn State history and all of us should learn and grow from it. When we Penn Staters look back over the last 5 years, the question that loomed over us is “Where are we headed?” Along the way there were a lot of twists and turns, all with challenges.

But right now at Penn State we are at a crossroad, facing one last big challenge. What direction we take depends on the working relationship between the Alumni and the current Board of Trustees; where we go from here is an in-house problem…a Penn State problem. No longer is our biggest challenge about the Freeh Report; everyone knows that was a sham from the start and the basis for nothing. No longer is our biggest challenge with the NCAA. Everyone knows they broke their own protocols and procedures and had no grounds to penalize Penn State so viciously. We know they were wrong and they know they were wrong.

No longer do we care about what the media puts out. They have lost their credibility in our eyes. They print allegations and then fan the flames, all without proof or validation and they have no accountability. On Nov 9, 2011 we saw the results of unchecked power here at Penn State. Beware of power that has no boundaries. Before that night, I did not know that the Board of Trustees could fire the President in the blink of an eye. When I heard that President Spanier was supporting Penn State and our Penn State people, I was confident that someone had a command of the situation. Then BOOM! John Surma led the firing of Graham Spanier and Joe Paterno. This made me realize that there were no checks and balances in place…this was unchecked power at its worst.

There were no checks and balances and Penn State lost….and we’ve been losing ever since. And let me point out that not one of those people on the board that night have been held accountable. I take that back, WE, the alumni, held our alumni elected trustees accountable and we replaced every one of them with people who DO represent us. That night the members of the board thought they could control and contain the damage they were doing, but they could not. And the damage continues to roll across our campus and will continue to roll if we don’t set up some checks and balances.

When you have a small group of people with money and connections and they know how to leverage power, they become detached and arrogant…they are above it all. So now we add arrogance and self-interest to the unchecked power and we have a dangerous situation. How did we get here? Where do we go from here? Right now we are divided and we need to start the healing. Where do we start? We start with a formal apology from those board members to Sue Paterno. Now. It’s already long overdue.

Let me tell you a story…I see a Lion’s paw scratching at the ground outside Beaver Stadium and it’s trying to find it’s home…trying to find where it belongs. The Lion knows it belongs here but he’s confused…something here isn’t right… something has changed. The Lion knew that our Board of Trustees made the decision to pay out hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements and lawyer’s fees and the Lion knew that our Board agreed to the sanctions and the vacated games.

But the Lion didn’t know that the Board also took down Joe’s statue and the Player’s Wall. That’s why the Lion didn’t recognize his home…they had erased the Lion’s history and his home was empty. They erased the Lion’s history and tried to fill it with lies, lies and more lies. I ask you today, are we a lie? Is our Penn State history a lie? Is Success With Honor a lie?

Success With Honor — A game changing vision never before undertaken. It was not just about football or being famous — it was about education — contributing to the world and making something of yourself. It was about having the greatest graduation rates for your athletes and being one of the best in Academic All Americans. This was unbelievable.

And to top it all off…409! The greatest number of football games won in NCAA history. So, you better believe that we will fight for our history and we will not let anyone rewrite it for us. No, this is not right. We know who we are. WE ARE LIONS. We will erase the lies. We will reclaim our home. We will rebuild our wall because this is our home. We hope the Paterno family will allow us to put Joe’s statue back in it’s rightful place because this is his home.

People are trying to destroy Success With Honor and everything we stand for, but we will fight for our history. Will you fight with me?

To the members of the Board of Trustees: Yes, right now you have Unchecked Power – but we know what we must do and we know who must do it. We, the Penn State Alumni, will do it. We see the goal line and we won’t stop until we cross it.

We have no deadline…and we are coming.

It could get worse in less than 30 Days, if the Unsealed Settlement Allegations come out and allegedly shows Joe Paterno knew in the 1970s and 1980s about Sandusky, then Spanier, Curley, and Schultz may ask for all Criminal Charges to be Dismissed.

After all, if you recall the hidden found Schultz's Emails that Freeh found out in his Investigations and turned over to Frank Fina and it shows Spanier, Schultz, and Curley wanted to turn over the 2001 McQueary Allegations that Alleged Joe reported to them, but Curley said let me talk to the coach one more time, and Alleged Joe changed their minds and they decided not to report it in 2001?????

This is what is called "Motive in Criminal Law" and if Spanier, Curley, and Schultz did not know about 1971-76-87-88 Children Alleged Complaints to Coach Joe & AD Tarman, well, one cannot refile charges against the dead, but the Statute of Limitations expansion could stop any Statue Return talk as well.....leaving Franco Gone With The Wins too!

The only Person named "Coach" in the Email who had "Motive" not wanting an Investigation by DPW and convinced Curley, Schultz, and Spanier to vote to keep it silent as well, was that Alleged "Coach"?

The Court of Appeals may accept Spanier, Curley, and Schultz Dismissal of all Charges, but that puts the entire Onus on the Court of Public Opinion, treating and publishing the Victim's Allegations on the "Coach" in the Email!

It's not known what Paterno may have said to Curley. Curley allegedly writes: "After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe yesterday, I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps." Now all depends on what is in those Unsealed Allegations and how much will be released and to be fair to Joe Paterno, again point out these are Vague Allegations right now, I myself still have a problem with Joe not knowing until a hint in 1998 and in 2001 and did report it, and as years went by got more confused on what to do especially after testifying with cancer and can't believe he would not have reported it, if he knew for sure.

I can wait for the Allegations to be fair to Franco too, and can apologize to those on the Lair I have disagreed with on this issue if I turn out wrong too.

It is still my belief on positive aspects of Joe's Character and let the truth be interpreted by both sides now or later! I still can separate Joe Great Coaching on Game Week, Game Day and Charties just like Art Briles.

But I can separate it from how the university was allowing the Football & Other PSU Sports Programs being run, and that is part NCAA problem in never investigating it fully at any time and treated it differently than other investigations. Same with UNC, USC, BAMA, OLE MISS and now BAYLOR, sure is taking longer as usual and why Self-Imposed Sanctions is often the best way to go first?

The Penn State 2012 Reforms show that Penn State University was out of Compliance's and now has full Institutional control over all NCAA Programs now, that is what proved the Penn State Football Program needed Reforms.

It is still going on and is Strange and Bizarre and has moved to other aspects on Elected Offices, DAG Fina-Judges PornGate, and even AG Kane indictment and now down at Baylor?

It is still going on and is Strange and Bizarre and has moved to other aspects on Elected Offices, DAG Fina-Judges PornGate, and even AG Kane indictment and now down at Baylor?

There has been some speculation in different corners as to why PSU would ask for this and you may have hit the nail on the head. Since the focus has been to get this "over with" since day one, if the cases against the Three Amigos get dropped (or more of the "serious charges" go away), that speeds things up and keeps the speculative blame on a guy that can't be prosecuted or that can defend himself. Leaves things nice and murky but it's terribly efficient.

And hey, the truth is what Franco is calling for so why not be as transparent as is convenient. PSU brass knows what's coming out and they're not stupid. Means to an end.
