A great win last night, once again they don't make it easy but hey 7-3 looks really good right now:
1. I'll say this the game was not great by the refs, but HCPN needs to chill with his postgame comments because refs read as well and frankly he's not doing the team any favors by trashing the refs in his post game pc. I get that the targeting call on Hamlin was a horrible call though but he's not going to get borderline calls if he keeps it up.
2. Basically let's admit it, Sam Howell is going to torture us Pitt fans for the next 3 years. That kid is a stone cold killer. Who amongst us thought we were going to stop them after we went ahead in OT. With receivers open all night I was really worried. If Alexander doesn't bother that last throw, maybe even tip he had a Tar Heel wide open for a TD and maybe we're sweating a 2 point try.
3. By far, Kenny Pickett's best game in his Pitt career. By far. He had presence in the pocket, ran when he needed to, made some great throws including the clutch throw to Mack in OT and more importantly the Pitt coaching staff allowed the offense to be explosive because they needed to score TD's against the UNC offense. Thought Whipple called a great game.
4. Your seeing a glimpse of the future with Wayne and Shocky and the future looks bright. Wayne dropped that seam pass but he looks a really good contributor. Shocky just needs to touch the ball more. He's explosive and is reliable.
5. Another game another drop by our TE on a perfect throw to move the sticks. Sigh
6. Boy we needed every single sack last night. We had a hard time with their WR's all night. When Howell had time he found holes in our defensive backfield and took advantage of our zone when we played it. I thought it might have been our worst defensive game but sometimes you give credit to the other team, that's a good offensive team.
7. I get being aggressive but not sure why you go for it on 4th and 3 down 7-3. Empty trip. I would have kicked the points but after Kessman missed the bunny later maybe I understand why. He seems to have a problem in close. That's 6 points that were left on the field.
8. Really starting to see some separation at RB. Davis' ability out of the backfield especially on screens makes him reliable. He doesn't have blazing speed but boy he reminds me of Ray Graham. He's shifty, sets up his blocks and finishes his runs. And if you watch he's a willing blocker.
9. Thought Pinnock had a really good game especially late in the game when UNC was threatening to break our collective hearts once again. Great coverage and the right technique to counter the fades.
10. I'm neither a fan of the yapping and the chipiness. Thought the game was threatening to get away from the refs. The late hit on Kenny was really bad and the Watts hit was just as bad. Narduzzi needs to chill the team out because it's going to cost us.
11. Thought the offensive line played their best game as well. I think moving 70 out has helped but it just seems like they are getting better coming off the ball and in their pass protection set ups. They don't seem as confused.
12. VT better be careful with GT this week. Geoff Collins team is getting better and better. VT should win but they better come to play.
13. Myles Garrett could have killed Rudolph. Just a horrible horrible play. I mean why is even on the field with 8 seconds to go but that's besides the point WTF was going through his head?
14. I just wish that once we get a game where I'm not pacing in my living room or at Heinz in the fourth period. Where I can sit back and watch the second teamers finish the game in a rout because besides the stress my liver is taking a beating with all the drinking. But man does it feel good when we win.
That's all I got. Hail to the victorious Panthers.
