Jamie coached defense and rebounding. When you can do that and get players to buy into it, even when you get beat, it isn't usually by 33 points.

I was starting to think that this team was pretty good defensively and their rebounding was also good. But WF found a way to force their will on a rattled team by playing the kind of defense that I recall from Jamie. Limiting your opponent to less than 60 points, a team that can score in the 80's and 90's and does, is the mark of a great defensive performance. That's how WF won. And as a result, their shots were falling. Offense created by defense.

Lol. Cmon. 33 points. What are we even doing here even mentioning the refs
The refs weren't good, but Pitt was terrible. The way the game was called did not have much to do with the outcome.

Carrington reverted to his pre-win streak self, throwing up low percentage shots and generally playing lazy on the offensive end. He and the team are far better when he gets into the lane and dishes if the shot isn't there. Wake was smart enough to blanket Hinson and not give him an inch.

bad night all the way around, but I saw some of the old bad habits on display especially out of Bub. He doesn't always like to work very hard for his offense.

First half there were plenty of questionable calls on our defense .
But -
When you can’t contain dribble penetration Hard to complain
Miller got anywhere he wanted to with the dribble. When he got inside, the Pitt D got all out of shape. Guys lost their man; ball watched and gave free runs to cutters.

WF’s player movement, ball movement and - of course - shooting, were all top notch. Credit to them. At the same time, Pitt did little or nothing well.

CBB can be so strange with how things can fluctuate from game to game. 🤷‍♂️ Wake is undefeated at home and played great last night. At UVA last Saturday they scored 47 for the entire game and lost.

Pitt cannot allow themselves to have a hangover from that stinker last night. Shake it off, get pi$$ed and run off some wins the rest of the way.

People need to stop living in the past , JDs weakest rosters were still better than any that’s been here since .

With Bub and Lowe in fold with Papa next season and with Cummings coming in ( I assume they’ll be back ) the outlook for the this team is looking up . There’s going to a time very soon when my first statement isn’t accurate .

This team is over performing , but not last night !

I don't like to see ball handlers over acting every time contact is made. It's the offensive version of flopping. I think it probably hurts more than helps with a lot of referees.

Not based on overall talent. No way. Some of those teams stunk.

I wish we played better so I could complain about the refs, fact of the matter is we were still 20 points from them being relevant. I could write a thesis on how Reid boxing out as a screen is an offensive foul yet didn't get called once.

I don’t fall for that bull shit head flopping, falling on the floor crap. Be a man! Go up strong!!

Which ones ?

JDs last team had Young , Artis , Jeter , Cam , Luther and JR . Young and Artis who’ve gone off on this team .

Even the two yrs JDs teams failed to make the tournament they had better rosters .

Two things can be true. The refs were terrible and the team was terrible How much the team let the officiating effect their play is debatable. It did look like they were complaining too much rather than playing through.

I dont know if this is true or not but the refs seem to be calling less fouls and "letting them play" more this year. This is especially true on not calling charging fouls anymore. I cant believe they actually listened to me on that one. If we can get flopping removed, maybe there is hope for eliminating NET. We'll keep Joe locked in his basement when that deal is done though. First though, we need to start doing in-game reviews on the epidemic of e point shooters falling down like they are hit by sniper fire after they release their shot. Should be a T.

This is where I’m at with it

Pitt was terrible

So were the refs … pointing it out isn’t making excuses… it’s just being observant… it’s also not helpful when you are playing like ass to begin with

People should stop being so sensitive that commenting on it immediately equates to blaming it

The worst call of the night was probably on Hinson's one first half basket, when he took about five steps before he shot the ball and the refs didn't call anything.
I thought the worst (non) call had Carrinton with the ball, bumped three feet off his spot with the contact coming from his non ball side.

Sure, it did not impact the play (he was making no move at the time) , but it was far too much contact to ignore.

Allow enough of that against a different team, you get a brawl.

Yeah, when you lose by 33 points it's not the refs.

Not even a little bit the refs.
Agree. But I also agree they were getting aggressively guarded and pushed on the offensive end too, and when they responded, they seem to get called. They allowed this to get them completely off their game which is on them, not the refs.

Honestly, we have been pretty good defensively and on the boards. It was just a bad night and we got boatraced. Will be really interesting how they respond. In some respects, maybe they needed knocked down a peg or two.
