How hilarious would that be? I hate all these conferences doing away with divisions. Would be funny as shit if Louisville gets in the CFP at 12-0 after not playing in the ACCCG

The odds of that are slim to none.
Probably true. But getting multiple teams in the CFP would be a real windfall for the ACC.

And how much has the Portal impacted CFB? Louisville with 25 transfers. FSU with 15 transfers starting.

It is what it is. 🤷‍♂️ Beat ‘em or join ‘em.

Then WE’LL be in until drivers seat because all THOSE programs will then ease back and coast for a bunch of seasons like WE’RE doing now. That’s what you do, I hear

Lol. Get ride of the offensive coach who got you there and then turn on auto pilot. Things will be fine.

I also dislike the end of divisions and will be actively rooting for bizarre scenarios to reinforce my stubborn view

The reason I like divisions is because you have a champion vs champion championship and yea you can say that the B10W or Coastal Champ dont deserve to be there but they won their round-robin "league." I am hoping like heck we get 3 12-0s or 3 11-1s. I believe all 3 are favored in each of their remaining games.

I agree. And if it wasn't clear, I was being sincere. I want dumb scenarios because I dislike how big the conferences are getting, especially considering they're generally getting rid of divisions as well.

I’m torn between Narduzzi being in denial about the offense being so critical; or fully cognizant of it but simply refusing to go along with it. Either way now that he has job security (which that big extension gave him; he’s basically unable to be fired), he can afford to win (or not, more accurately) “his way”. What he doesn’t ever seem to get is that having a great offense HELPS a defense, takes pressure off it, allows it to play loose because a mistake isn’t the end of the world; the O will get it back. But not this one. Give up 17 points (which is nothing these days) and it’s over.

I hope like USC, Oregon, Mich, and PSU all go 11-1/8-1. That would be awesome. A single 18 team division is beyond stupid.

Should be

West
USC
UCLA
Oregon
Washington

 Midwest
Nebraska
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin

East
Rut
Md
PSU
Ill
NW

Cental
OSU
Mich
MSU
Indiana
Purdue

Top 2 Division champs play for title....or a 4 team playoff

If he's afraid of a scoring offense, then I'd rather him just bring in the biggest and strongest OL possible and play smashmouth football and control the clock with a stong run game, then what we have right now. Just find some big RBs and a QB who can also run it, and do it. Make the other team afraid to tackle by the 4th quarter. See what happens.

Florida State is not going undefeated. If we’re something like 1-7 heading into the game while they’re a Top 3 team, there’s no doubt in my mind we’re going to beat them… or does that only apply if they’re No. 2?

2 of those 3 will go undefeated. Look at their schedules. I actually think there's a better chance than most think that they all go undefeated.

As for Pitt, this team has no talent. Its Majors 2. Those other teams who pulled upsets had NFL players. This team doesn't. Bartholemew is the only guy on the team who you can say is an NFL player.....and I'm not even sure he's going to be more than a backup. There's just no talent.

IMO the ACC had it right when they were a 9 team league prior to the Big East raids. That way a team plays everyone in football, 4 home games, 4 away games, and plays everyone in a home/away series in basketball.

This could also work for an 11 team league going to a 10 game conference schedule with 5 home games and 5 away games in football; but my personal preference is the shorter conference schedule with the freedom to schedule more non-conference games.

Part of the reason for the ACC raids of the Big East was that while the NCAA was saying out of one side of their mouth that they don't get involved in issues related to conference membership; they were saying out the other side of their mouth that you can't have a conference championship game without having at least 12 teams in your conference. The ACC wanted a conference championship game, and tried to appeal that, but the NCAA wouldn't budge.

I still wonder what things would look like if the NCAA had dropped the requirement of 12 teams for a championship game. I think the ACC may well have still come for Miami(who in turn was upset at Big East leadership for ignoring their pleas to add a 9th football member for ease of scheduling with a balanced home/away schedule); but may have felt that undermined the Big East enough as a relevant, championship caliber conference and left it at that.

It has been talked about plenty already that these super conferences are money driven and yielding more money per team until they don't. And with greed driving everything, it's only a matter of time before the haves break away from the have nots to keep the revenue on the rise and expansion becomes contraction until it becomes expansion again.

UNC still has good teams left on the schedule in Miami, Clemson, and Duke. Even GT had a surprise win over Miami. And then, even though NC State isn’t good this year, it’s the kind of rivalry game where anything can happen. Going undefeated is improbable IMO.

If you really think that you should put your money where your mouth is, because I'll bet you could get some really big odds on a parlay like that.

FWIW, Team Rankings has Florida State's current chance of going undefeated at 39.3%, North Carolina is at 14.3% and Louisville is at 12.1%.

So the odds of all three going undefeated are 0.68%. Or in other words, about 1 in 147.

If one was really so sure that was going to happen one could get really rich.

12-0. Not undefeated

Those facts are nice and all, but you know the SMF spin is still coming.

BTW, I was reading something earlier today that noted that since the start of the playoff era (and excluding the covid season) there are an average of 1.3 undefeated teams at the end of the regular season.

And yet SMF thinks that there are going to be three of them from the same conference in the same year.
