The manager and staff are the front line representatives of the ownership, so yes it does accurately represent the ownership.Gonna go out on a limb and call this an apocryphal story not representative of the restaurant and it’s owner.

Until now!I've driven past Heinz Field on the Fort Duquesne Bridge during a Steelers game and nobody questioned why I was listening on the radio instead of stopping in to watch.
Did you get your hoagie with the rat feces on it or on the side?man they were good. a cheesesteak hoagie from there was fantastic. that's not a terrible way to go.
chances are i did but i didnt know about it.Did you get your hoagie with the rat feces on it or on the side?
The current owner also bought the place in 2014 after having worked there since he was 19 years old. Pretty sure he’s an alum, so I don’t think it’s fair to say that ownership hates Pitt.Loving Pitt isn’t a prerequisite for a restaurant manager, even in Oakland. But announcing out loud you hate Pitt should be a disqualifier
Where is Uncle Sams?Ate Uncle Sam’s on Sunday .
Good as ever.
Best fries
The one in Aspinwall is closest to me.Where is Uncle Sams?
It still exists, in original and mango flavor.Okay lol, I guess IC Light wasn’t doing it. Someone needs to talk to Heather. And does IC Light still exist?

It always struck me a weird choice for the Iron City brand as well; but it's been on the market for a decade now, so it must be selling alright.Mango flavored beer?
If that does warrant a WTF, I’m not sure what does.
Does the average Trans Am driving, WDVE listening Yinzer know what a Mango is?
I think you drink with your pinky out.If you define “blast” as being so obnoxiously drunk in public that some 25 years old restaurant manager throws me out-
No - I’m not a blast .
When I’m drunk I try to be especially courteous and polite to the folks serving my food and drinks - so they will continue to do that .
Then tip generously
Because I’m an adult with a good paying job - who treats others with common courtesy .
A decade? Wow, I guess their marketing guys know more than I do.It always struck me a weird choice for the Iron City brand as well; but it's been on the market for a decade now, so it must be selling alright.
Yeah, they probably think it is the slow kid down the street from them,Mango flavored beer?
If that does warrant a WTF, I’m not sure what does.

They probably can’t spell, and think it‘s related to this guy.Yeah, they probably think it is the slow kid down the street from them,
In that note, Mango Iron City? What? Was Piss taken? I have never heard of something so disgusting.
It is there fruit and veg intake. The Dodge Duster driver does not.Mango flavored beer?

Last mango in Paris. Or North Versailles.
BTW I read your early post regarding VA Beach, I hated sailing in thereLast mango in Paris. Or North Versailles.
It’s surprisingly not bad- particularly on a hot day .Yeah, they probably think it is the slow kid down the street from them,

It's a strange place. Has really grown since I was there. If the local governments could collaborate, they could do great things there. Pretty big population base in Tidewater, but all separate cities.BTW I read your early post regarding VA Beach, I hated sailing in there
Yes the training facilities are awesome. Our cousins have a really cool condo in Norfolk. But you are right the area is all over the place. For being a sailor in a sub it was not a good port. Groton was a better port. It's a strange place. Has really grown since I was there. If the local governments could collaborate, they could do great things there. I trained at NMC Portsmouth. Was great training. We were taught to handle anything and everything. I didn't realize it at the time, but was very fortunate to be there.
I spent some TAD at NSMRL Groton. If I didn't select through straight to specialty training, I was going to become a UMO.Yes the training facilities are awesome. Really? It’s surprisingly not bad- particularly on a hot day .
YesReally?
So when a restaurant manager makes an offhand comment voicing a personal bias to a customer, that same personal bias is imputed to the owner. The manager and staff are the front line representatives of the ownership, so yes it does accurately represent the ownership.
When I was young and in my 20’s, Iron City had their line of “micros” called Evil Eye. They had Evil Eye Honey Brown, Evil Eye Rasberry Wheat, and others. I enjoyed them. I have to wonder if I’d enjoy them today.Mango flavored beer?

I apologize why subs?I spent some TAD at NSMRL Groton. If I didn't select through straight to specialty training, I was going to become a UMO.
Or perhaps you should take with a large grain of salt an anonymous complaint from a dude who not only admits the game was on tv- but got thrown out -So when a restaurant manager makes an offhand comment voicing a personal bias to a customer, that same personal bias is imputed to the owner.
Got it. That makes a ton of sense.
I liked respiratory physiology. More diving than subs though. I did do chamber dives and sub escape training while there. As a researcher and future Navy doc, they wanted us to understand the operational environments that you worked and lived in.I apologize why subs?
This is what I found when I searched “Evil Eye beer”.When I was young and in my 20’s, Iron City had their line of “micros” called Evil Eye. They had Evil Eye Honey Brown, Evil Eye Rasberry Wheat, and others. I enjoyed them. I have to wonder if I’d enjoy them today.
I sort of get your point, but have you ever walked into Bettis Grille during a Steeler game when Heinz was about 20% filled and decent tickets were available for $10 and then complained about the game not being on enough TVs? I mean, they were kicked out for drinking too much. Clearly they weren't due to start an ER shift at Presby that night.I haven't been to Fuel and Fuddle in about 15 years, when I was going to eat there until I saw a Health Dept warning on the door.
There could be 1000 reasons why someone could be eating in Oakland but might not be able to go to the game. I've driven past Heinz Field on the Fort Duquesne Bridge during a Steelers game and nobody questioned why I was listening on the radio instead of stopping in to watch.
On the other hand, the OP revealed too much by saying he was eventually thrown out. He may have been drunk enough to think he was actually politely asking to have the channel changed. Probably wasn't as politely as he thinks.
Need something stronger than beer to survive watching that $hitshow in person!Yes, yes you can.
Beer flows freely at the Pete these days. Now the selection of the beer....that's a different question.
Also have mobile ordering of food and drink these days...not that there are really lines for concessions.
yes i was a bartender at calico's for the Carey family who sold it to the manager of uncle sams next door to open fuel and fuddle. forgot his name but remenber his faceYeah, the Squirrel Hill location is still there unless Covid took it out. I think there may be one or two in the suburbs.
I think originally someone involved with Sam's at least helped to start Fuel & Fuddle. I doubt there are any connections anymore.
I was thinking more pre- than post-game. Maybe they just got off a 7a to 7p ER shift at Presby and couldn't get there for the start. Maybe they arrived midway through the game. Or maybe the OP was the only one in the group who was a hoops fan. Maybe the plan was to go to dinner and they didn't want chicken strips and dip n dots.I sort of get your point, but have you ever walked into Bettis Grille during a Steeler game when Heinz was about 20% filled and decent tickets were available for $10 and then complained about the game not being on enough TVs?
