as we get near the end of this decade Pitt and new AD Scott Barnes has some work to do. The slate for ooc is set for 2016-of course - and 2017 is as well with away game at PSU and home ooc games set with YSU,Okie State and Rice. However we still need one ooc game for the 18-19 and 2020 seasons. As of now for 2018 hom games with Albany,PSU are scheduled as is an away game with ND thus one home game in all likely hood will be scheduled. For 2019 home ooc games are scheduled with Delaware and Ohio U. and we are away at PSU thus another home game is needed. In 2020 we host Richmond and ND and go to Marshall so again a home game is likely.
Barnes is on record as saying that we will not schedule any more away games with non-power five schools so hopefully the Marshall road game will be the last for that and h has also stated that Pitt will try to limit or cut FCS games from the schedule as well so the previously scheduled games with the likes of YSU-Albany-Richmond and Delaware could end that as well. We are doing a good job of filling in the blanks for the early to mid 20's with series with Tennessee, Cinncy, ND and West Va. but the more immediate schedule openings are I am sure being addresses by Barnes just as he is with the ooc basketball schedule. Barnes seems like a great hire and I trust he will schedule realistically moving forward.

I agree with the non-road games against non P5 teams, but does Pitt have the $$ to stick to that statement? One-and-dones with teams like Rice (recently scheduled for 2017) and other G5 teams are getting very costly, sometimes approaching 1 million dollars or even more. Don't think Pitt has been paying anywhere near that figure for most of their one-and-dones. Will be interesting.

Ill bet they fill most of those random open spots in the next few years with MAC schools, guess AAC schools could be a possibility as well but I seem to remember their league commissioner coming out with some comments directed at Pitt after they said they're not going to be scheduling any future road games vs G5s that led me to believe he'd discourage his members from playing us if we weren't willing to give them a home game in return. Id love to see us get away from what has become the yearly season opener vs FCS schools but I really doubt they ever will & with this new stance regarding G5 road games its going to get harder to fill out the schedule as many G5's would rather get 1 home game for 2 road games lately then a payday.

Yeah, something's going to give somewhere.

Pitt's not going to have a schedule of home and away with two BCS schools, and home only with MAC/CUSA/AAC teams.
Not enough money to pull that off.

Frankly, I think the statement is just raw meat thrown at the masses.

The available teams for the near future are few and far between. That is why I have said ad nauseum that no way we are playing PSU before the mid 2020's because scheduled fill well in advance especially for wanted foes.
I for one would a home/away with a left coast team.
