It looked to me like Bran warging with the crows was designed to draw out the Night King snd his blue dragon. Up until then, he had been off-screen and the whole point of the battle from the North's POV was to draw him out after Bran.

There may have been other motives, such as intelligence gathering for future episodes, but I don't think he was just warging to enjoy Flight Simulator.
